The coolest booth award -- and most genius donation method -- goes to NUCC (National Upcycled Computing Collective).

They took this soda machine and transformed it into a massive server from reclaimed and refurbished server racks. They even wrote a whole thing to do the transactions.

You stick dollar bills in, select which "flavor" you want, and it pops out a shell for you to access all weekend from the show.

@zardozWrex Thanks for asking! Might be a little ambitious for my first outing, but:
Basil, oregano, cilantro, mint, Stevia (my mom and aunt use it daily so it’s time to save them a ton of money), garlic chives, bell peppers, Roma tomatoes, centennial sweet potatoes, butter leaf lettuce, yellow onions…and some Nasturtium for the borders, which I’m hoping will attract the pests away from the good stuff!

(WIDE OPEN to any and all advice, by the way)

I haven't talked much about my day job, but now feels like the right time since I recently moved away from management back into a content + community-driven role at @thunderbird.

As successful as the Thunderbird project is, there's a lot of room for us to improve our community engagement, whether that's creating a more welcoming environment for new contributors OR just being a fun "third place" for our users.

What do YOU think is missing right now? What can we do better? 👂

@pitch @thunderbird You precisely nailed one of the problems I’m trying to solve, so it’s quite validating to see it. And of ALL those channels (at least on the Thunderbird side) there’s not one to just hang out and chat with the community.

(When I was running Linux For Everyone, we had a bunch of Windows and macOS users hanging out just because the community was so awesome. So I appreciate your comment about too!)

@bisby @thunderbird Ohhh Nick, regarding bug reporting I hear you LOUD AND CLEAR. I may be wrong, but I’d argue the type of bug reports actually being submitted aren’t representative of the average Thunderbird user — precisely BECAUSE it’s such an ordeal to even post one. So, quite a bit may fall through the cracks.

At any rate, I hear you and appreciate the feedback.
