@GottaLaff folks, if the Conservatives win in our upcoming 2025 federal election, you are not going to like it much better here. We have our own difficult racist, transphobes, climate deniers here too, at all levels of government. The far right has spread far and wide.

Didn't sleep well last night because of our tenants, and apparently a friend, were (once again) playing loud music, talking loudly, and laughing until 2am.

That gives us grounds to evict them with notice, so Mom and I will discuss that.

Mom is having a conversation tomorrow with a potential house sit in Calgary. It starts a few days after her current sit in Edmonton ends.

If it works out, she would still like a house sit in May until late June.

@terraboops nice!! What are you getting? Do you seed save too? I'm hoping to go to a seedy Saturday around here and buy a few local things this year I have my own lettuce and dill and cucs and had pretty good luck saving tomatoes so far. I'm trying corn this year!!

20 min notice given to these houseless folks in Edmonton to clear out according to reports. Society doesn't want to SEE them and be reminded of our failures to take care of each other.

They'll just pop up somewhere else and go through it again because they don't feel safe in shelters.

@kevinlovestech these wretched practices are so hard to see. Unhoused people deserve the protection of our charter, these are unreasonable laws that infringe on privacy and physical safety. I would love to see a human rights challenge on jurisdictions who do this!

Last week I noticed a bunch of students without winter gloves

Two days ago I gave my students winter gloves

Today one of those students came in with one glove

I asked him if something happened to the glove

He said he gave one glove to his younger brother so that each of them would have one

Tomorrow I will bring more gloves

@jfmezei @chad @Paulatics the north is getting a harsh blast indeed Thing is, we get a cold snap like this year every year in southern interior, I've had several -20 winter days over past 10 years here, and typical is around -10 but this time it's getting lots more publicity - I guess because it's been so unusually warm til now.

@senanthic isn't that so annoying! I wrote Que Pasa tortilla chips because they boast of being natural local etc. but their paper looking packaging is lined with a plastic membrane and can't be recycled. Really?
