Been hearing from a lot of folks that asked for financial assistance for that they only got online passes.

They also mention that asking for more funds could make them lose the funding they were originally allotted.

@ThePSF can there be some transparency on how decisions for funding are made? Especially since the conversation is usually “There’s money left over!”

Would love to have more information to share with those asking me.

ThePSF,
@ThePSF@fosstodon.org avatar

@kjaymiller Thank you for highlighting this need for transparency! Based on this we are putting together a blog post covering the thoughtful work our staff put in and how this year's process went. We will share a link soon 💛

Is there a tool that allows you to short code terminal commands.

Like if I type br inst python

It would look at history and enter

brew install Python

pseudometa,
@pseudometa@pkm.social avatar

@kjaymiller You could use the history search (ctrl-r) from fzf for that

A TextArea widget for has been on a lot of people's wishlist for so long, and @darrenburns did a hell of a job on it; and he keeps doing great work on it adding more and more things that people are requesting. v0.51.0 has some great TextArea extras.

I do feel that TextArea is the real highlight of the framework at the moment. I'm seeing folk use it for neat things too.

When you say or ask for something regarding open source, add "for me" to the end of the sentence. If that makes it sound rude, then consider rephrasing.

Some examples to show some good and bad phrases I hear regularly:

  • "I want this ... for me"
  • "It's been a year; how is this not done yet ... for me"
  • "I think this is important ... for me"
  • "I think that's a good idea ... for me"
  • "That should be easy to do ... for me"
