Hey folks, does anyone maintain two separate profiles for "work" and "everything else / all the things"?

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to try and maintain a handle that's more focused on apps and work stuff (e.g. @konstantin) rather than posting everything together here.

As the last episode of is going to air next week, I just can't imagine having to wait a FULL YEAR to get season 2. Once Season 1 is finished, I will have no choice but to get the books and read the story until the end at my own pace. 📚

Hey folks, where do you buy e-books?

I like the convenience of the Books app, but Apple does that thing where I have to look at content depending on the current app store region. So, I wonder… What else is there?

We’re not old, we just remember the sound a 28.8K modem makes.

We're a few days away from iOS17 / macOS14 being announced and yet Microsoft still flags macOS13 as “beta” 🙄 (and as a result requiring one to customize the build in order to “opt into” the useful bits).

This is not a rant, just sounds like one.

I just read about the backstory for the .zip and .mov TLDs and Google's thinking seems totally orthogonal to reality:

Google marketers say the aim is to designate “tying things together or moving really fast” and “moving pictures and whatever moves you,”

.mov is a movie, and .zip is an archive, and no amount of Google marketing can change that. Moreover, yes, black holing these domains sounds like a good idea.

All I want is a CDN that's also private in a way that I don't need to include any US entities on the list of sub processors. I guess bunny.net is not on the list 🔓

Good morning people of the fediverse! :mastodance:
Are we ready for a fabulous week?
It’s going to be fabulous cause we’re in it, of course 💅

Hey , I would like to change the tool I'm using for time tracking (currently Harvest) with something that:

a) works offline and doesn't require server sync.
b) allows me to export/import timesheets in a raw format.
c) works on macOS and/or Linux.

Do you have a favourite?

Thanks 🙏

I wonder if I should set up my instance to expire my old posts. In under 6 months, I've posted more content here than all 10 years on Twitter before that. On one hand, for safety/security, it feels like it's better for posts to disappear. On another hand… I kind of like that everything I've ever posted is a quick search away.

Is something down? There is this general fuzziness of resources / images / web and electron apps loading?

Working fullstack in all kinds of languages sometimes leads me to momentarily forget the dependencies of each project. e.g. how was it that we run the tests in this project or what are the right commands to install dependencies, do I need to start a docker compose before running the app etc.

That's why most of my projects include a Makefile where I always keep a standard set of tasks: make setup, make dev, make test, make build, make publish + additional tasks as the project requires.

Good morning! Last day before the long weekend :heart_cup:

One of the things helped me remember, is how cool it is to create complex systems without the overhead of microservices. At first, it was even a bit confusing because I constantly had the feeling that I'm forgetting something ("What? How come that's all I have to do and not a single line of YAML had to be written").

Not exactly but definitely medium-sized blobs of developer happyness :).

Good morning fedifolks! How are you enjoying the start of this long weekend so far? :heart_cup:

I was just digging up some older designs I've made in the past and realized that doesn't let me open them unless I have an active subscription. 🙄

  • Files are saved in an older version of Sketch which doesn't work, so I need to update them.

  • To update them, I need a subscription.

I can pay €11 or whatever to access them, but it would have been nice if I could just own my creations, you know 🤷🏻‍♂️.
