Hey folks, does anyone maintain two separate profiles for "work" and "everything else / all the things"?
I'm wondering if it's a good idea to try and maintain a handle that's more focused on apps and work stuff (e.g. @konstantin) rather than posting everything together here.
@konstantin@konstantin On mobile, I have a profile for personal use, banking, emergency, app containment, socials and just work tools. For desktop, eh, just two profiles
@konstantin I tried that once, but it did not really work for me. From the other end, I usually (not always) like to have some personal life seep in through in the work profiles I follow.
@ristkof That's what I'm afraid as well. I usually bring my "entire me" in work settings, and I'm not sure whether I can find a good balance to maintane two separate streams.
@chgowiz Sometimes they help. On occasions I like to show-off what I'm working on which leans more on "self promotion". Also at times I share some very specific and technical stuff... and it's all mixed up with my cat posts, posts about hot guys etc. It feels like separating shitposting vs. workstuff may be an improvement.
@konstantin Well, ya gotta do what works for you! I kinda view Mastodon and social media like us talking on a front porch or at a cafe. Sometimes we're gonna go on for hours about that new language, or we're gonna talk about our pets. It's all about us and our many facets. I like reading it all ... and if I'm not in the mood for exposition on version 3.14.159, I can skip that post!
@chgowiz I think I share the same view. It's also why I don't make lists... I prefer to just open the timeline and see what's up right now and try to participate when it's interesting or have something to share.

@chartier@konstantin Oh that's 3! A totally new perspective I didn't consider before. A very theme-based approach...! I can definitely see myself doing that, it will require some discipline on my end.
@DemocracySpot Hey there. And does it improve your experience? It would still be me behind both ... and I'm not going to suddenly start talking about synergy and impediments :ms_crazy: or stop saying the F word when deserved...
I only have one @, but if I were working or had a special interest, I'd definitely narrowcast with a separate account—probably on an instance with a lot of like-mindeds.
