    In my hometown, a liberal bastion in Virginia, Justice Scalia's daughter Meg Bryce is running for school board. At a forum hosted by the NAACP this past week, she stated that systemic racism does not exist.

    This week's theme: videogame music! I'm hoping to work some lesser known tracks into the mix, but let's get ourselves started with an absolute banger from Bastion by Darren Korb. Korb has flawlessly merged Americana & bluegrass with Asian instruments and electronic percussion elements ร  la Nine Inch Nails.

    I keep seeing that terrible misinformation post about donating random perishables and non-food goods to the food bank. DO NOT DO THIS.

    Your local food bank needs donations of MONEY, they can typically get 4-10 meals per dollar donated, way better purchasing power than an individual has.

    If they have a list of needed goods, donate only those! Anything else is likely to get thrown away!

    I know itโ€™s more fun for kids and such to donate goods, but it will go to waste. Also volunteer your time!

    @liztai can confirm! We got a brother and sister - the only two from the litter that they were able to find - and theyโ€™ve been amazing companions for each other. Theyโ€™re inseparable, Iโ€™m so glad we were able to keep them together!

    @mistersql @acdha Yes, FinOps is a newly-minted totally-made-up buzzword for "can you use the Cloud Usage Report and yell at people for spinning up EC2s that are too large?" There's certainly a need for folks to know how to do that but the term is ๐Ÿคฎ

    How often do you use cash to pay for goods and services?

    @gedeonm moving to a smaller city where there are lots of laborers and craftspeople and venues that prefer cash has definitely changed how often I use cash. In DC I never carried it ever. Here in Richmond, VA, I have to carry it constantly.

    Seeing how unhappy #ApriCat has been, confined to my tiny apartment, longing for the outside, and spending most of the day alone (because I'm working), has made me rethink about how we approach pet ownership. Sometimes, animals are meant to wander, even if it means that their lives are shorter as a result.
    What do you think?

    Ps: Please no lectures about why we need to keep pets indoors ๐Ÿ˜… I already know it!!

    @liztai I think there are some compelling answers here already, but I do think cats adjust to their environment, it just takes time.

    Iโ€™ll also say that we now have two indoor cats and Iโ€™ve only had to take them to the vet three times for non-routine visits in twelve years, versus my indoor/outdoor cat growing up who we must have spent tens of thousands of dollars on due to random injuries, fights, illnesses, etc.

    Friends - it's HACKERS DAY!!!!!

    My favorite day of the year! A reminder of all of the various forms of hacking - whether it's hacking code or hacking bureaucracy. Today is a day to actively find things you can make better, by using your 1337 skillz.

    We'll also be visiting the Hackers movie soundtrack today for in honor of the 28th anniversary of it's release.

    Find something to hack today!
