Fun fact: Take “1864”—the date of the theofascist territorial law that the Arizona Supreme Court just upheld—and swap the 8 and the 6, and then flip the 6, you have “1984”.

Just sayin…

Sometimes when the light’s just right and I look up suddenly, I think I see my Sony Clie.

And when that happens, I know an extra scotch is happening that evening.

Whenever I see "art" like this I always have to zoom in, and make sure it's AI, because the thought of an artist actually putting in effort for something like this gives me indigestion.

Hugh Hewitt is one of the most craven propagandists the right has. And really stupid. And just fucking annoying. But not as annoying as NBC making him a debate host. Someone needs to be disemboweled for that.

@shoq

True: He has always reminded me of a character in a David Croenberg film who might design terrifyingly insane surgical instruments.

But maybe it’s just me.

Could this missing feature on the M3 MacBook Pro be a dealbreaker? https://9to5mac.com/2023/10/31/missing-feature-m3-macbook-pro/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon

Spoiler Alert:

No.

Because the answer to sad, unjournalistic questions-as-headlines is almost always “no.”

I effing hate questions-as-headlines.

In my opinion, one of the best conversations with M John Harrison I’m aware of, which is saying a lot because he’s always s fine interviewee and a great reader of his own work.

Furthermore, Wish I Was Here surpasses all expectations. I marked up my edition so massively I had to buy a second copy.

Especially if it meant Peter Sellers featured in the music video for Bowie’s “Putting Out Fire Wth Gasoline.”

Ever get a really sore neck? Ice packs are instant relief in most cases. But they never conform to your neck, or they’re often big and clunky. This product is PERFECT. I’ve been wearing mine even when the neck pain in minimal. It’s stress relieving, too. And very inexpensive.

With genuinely due respect—I read, watch and listen to well-known pundits all day everyday. If I fail to bump into them here, well, it’s kind of like quiet processing time.

Cross-platform: Cable, online iterations of newspapers, digital newsletters, blogs, websites, RSS feeds—the usual news junkie drill.

And yes, I’m the 10 percent case. But I always guard against what I’ve come to call Presence Validation. Thus my reaction to well-known pundits here.

Years ago, I frequented an all-night French cafe. One night Mick Jagger came in, looked around and left. The place cleared out except for me. It was exactly the same place, just post-Presence Validation.
