heyy i'm again asking about linux(+virtualization now) i hope i find at least one person who knows linux and kvm gpu passthrough of a mobile nvidia graphics card, recently i got hit by code 43, i didn't find any site which would cover it as i did almost all of the reccommendations

i'll make a long reply with the xml configuration

also when i run any game in a VM i get like 30% max gpu utilization, CPU goes above that but it seems to be limited by the GPU, can anyone suggesst to solve this too?

understandably i've gotten some questions about battery runtime of RK3588 in the MNT Reform laptop: i'm currently getting around 4h of regular work time (code editing, browsing, playing music via youtube), with encrypted ssd, wifi pcie card, usb bluetooth dongle out of pretty fresh 8x 2000mAh LiFePO4 batteries. i think this will be a bit more optimizable in the future when we can switch to direct eDP (as opposed to going via HDMI adapter) and when more power optimizations land in the kernel.

watched @geerlingguy's MNT Reform review today in the mnt hq with my colleagues @theawesomerandomness and @holo_memory. thank you for this very well made and balanced review, it had a bunch of edge-of-seat moments for us :D and i'm motivated to polish some of those last rough edges.

a comment on price: the base model with a311d is "only" 1199 EUR in our shop. theoretically you can plug in your own SSD for 50 bucks. we'll probably also lower SSD prices further as we have new sources.

@mntmn heyyy I have couple questions about battery life on your laptops
It seems very interesting how some very low end phones with similar ARM cortex cores etc.. can last a full day or two with half size battery or even less than you have in your MNT Reform/Pocket Reform, yeah I understand that you got a full mechanical keyboard with RGB, and bigger screen, but when It comes to tablets it's the same story to compare, what's your opinion about which part of the system wastes/uses the most power and why? Also apple MacBooks from new M series can last a full weekend- would it be possible to make .. Pocket Reform last that long? I seen couple people referring to that there's a lot more engineering going into designing those devices and making more efficient systems, with more money in their wallet to build efficient computing devices

@mntmn I thought it's partly OS, Linux kernel is very unoptimized for battery usage(by default) sadly, my laptop also doesn't last nearly as long as it used to(from 5-6 hours down to 1-2-mainly because battery degradation)-just because I have different OS than the manufacturer put on it

as requested by @esther: does MNT Pocket Reform work without batteries, from USB-C supply/powerbank? yes.

my POV holding a running pocket reform and flipping it over so you can see there are no batteries in the bottom. when i pull the USB-C plug, it immediately turns off.
