I don’t know what happened. Internet seemed to break. Cable modem status showed OK. Router said it was fine.

Nothing seemed to work.

I could ping 9.9.9.9

Rebooted router, still funky.

Beats me what it was. Everything seems OK now. Sometimes I have had an access point go wonky, devices connected to it lose internet access, but hardwired devices lost connection this time too. Pinging worked, HTTP didn't, made it seem DNS-ish.

After rebooting router and access points, seemed better, could access some websites but not others. Changed DNS away from ISP over to Quad9. More device reboots, DNS cache flushing. Eventually everything came back including devices I hadn't touched so..... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Trust me on this one. The electrical engineers in charge of the power grid can deal with 2 minutes of no sun regardless of what some talking head on TV says.

I had one project with waymo where their engineer insisted we could use the sense lines we were not using on a power supply to make a voltage measurement elsewhere on the circuit.

I wasn’t going to spend any time on it but he was so insistent and I figured he’s a Stanford engineer at Google maybe it’s me that’s wrong

Nope.

Wasted an afternoon going through intrument manuals only to find out my initial position was right.

It’s been enlightening being on the CPC mail list. The emails looking for donations are completely devoid of any platform. Simply trying to trigger the anger response followed by a request for donation.

Glad to see he wants to eliminate homelessness and hunger. I just figure that means jail and banning food banks.

Just checking the outlook for Wednesday/Thurs now and I see that system is forecast at about 46cm now!

Lots of at-or-above zero temps though, so maybe it'll melt as it goes along? Depends on the rate tho, and I suspect it'll be pretty intensive if we get that much over that short a period.

I remeber a time when everything was closed on Sundays and holidays and capitalism didnt collapse.

I say this as an agnostic. It doesnt matter ro me which days they are but there should be a few days a year where we collectively dont prioritize consuming over connections.

Speaking of needing a prompter, the encounter between CBC comedian Dan Dillabaugh and Poilievre at a campaign event in Halifax is painful to watch.

22minutes has done this to a lot of politicians. This has to be the most ungraceful one of them all. The normal response is to just smile, let them do their bit and move on.

Just really gives insight to how the man thinks. Sort of like how you can tell a lot about a person in how they treat servers at a restaurant or caretakers.
