    the one thing I haven’t quite figured out yet is how to balance me wanting to show the hot stuff here too with the fact that I also want people on my OF not to feel like they’re paying for nothing. also I kinda hate contributing to our pay-walled world.

    Just one of those things that would be easier under Full-Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism I guess.

    It is also full of accounts with thousands of followers that post other’s people work, which I still feel uneasy about. Rather than giving credit to the creators, they post the images directly to drive traffic to their own accounts. Fortunately, this seems to be less of a problem in Mastodon than it was in Tumblr back then.

    @vivibene1 I appreciate that content curation is itself a talent, but at the very least, curators should be crediting creators, ideally including a link to their website or social media.

    @imbrium_photography @vivibene1 If curators consistently credited creators, then it would be clear that posts without credit would be from creators. Since this doesn't happen (and likely never will), I tag my posts with (which stands for "original content", a convention widely used in Reddit).

    @mateodelarioja hey there, love your work and I’m glad to see more NSFW photogs joining mastodon. I wanted to give you a heads up that you should be marking any images with nudity or sexual content with a content warning or your server admin may have no choice but to suspend your account. It’s nothing personal, it’s just the rule and it allows people who aren’t wanting that type of content in their feed to easily filter it out.

    @KinkyLotus This led me down an interesting rabbit hole. My server does not require CWs, but I think there is a compelling case for their use (e.g., https://maloki.medium.com/on-content-warnings-on-mastodon-318771be78e8). The UX of CWs, however, leaves much to be desired, requiring two clicks to see the full content of a post (1 for CW, 1 for sensitive). I'm torn.

    In my limited testing, it also appears that images with CWs are not federated to pixelfed :(

    Yeah, the only rule is simply "Sexually explicit or violent media must be marked as sensitive when posting". I hope I am in the right place!
