I’m off to @emf tomorrow (early, to help with setup).
I’ve packed my dot matrix printer and continuous paper, ~10 game boys, and DECT handset.
I’m now sat with the sound of two 3D printers running and a floppy drive formatting one of many disks.
@mattgrayyes@emf if you have toot to print now and you've previously done Gameboy camera stuff, do you now have a way to go from Gameboy camera image to dot matrix printout in one go?
@mattgrayyes
Hi Matt,
Couldn't help but notice that it's only Kölsch if you're actually brewing it in Köln (Cologne, Germany) 😅
Also Reinheitsgebot would apply, but treating the water might just be an exception 🤔
I just got added to the list of Featured Creators at Open Sauce!
I loved the event last year, a great mix of not only content creators who have inspired me loads, but also loads of people from the maker community showing all the cool stuff they’ve made!
15-16th June, San Francisco
You can get tickets and see the list of other creators who will be there too, at: https://opensauce.com
The direction all this is heading makes me feel sick.
Why do there always have to be minorities picked to be punching bags or scapegoats. Esp when their existence makes no diff to the public.
I am non binary 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
I don’t talk about it much because tbh it’s none of your business. And hell it can be hard to figure out what someone feels about themself never mind communicating it.
But I mention it to show support!
HOLY SHIT I CAN SEE THE AURORA FROM JUST OUTSIDE LONDON
Not quite that bright. Definitely not that saturated. But I can see the streaks and a slight tinge of colour.
Look north, avoid light pollution. It just looks like cloud until you notice. Point a camera at it and you’ll see the colour on screen then can work it out in person
I will note however that if you do come up and say hi, it really helps if you say that you recognise me off the internet, or I'll be wondering if I should know you otherwise!
With my day job, I end up training lots of people on new technology, and explaining concepts to people as jargon-free as possible.
Almost every person apologises for asking or for them being “stupid questions”.
As I see it, there’s no such thing as a stupid question when you had no reason to know the answer to begin with!
But having seen the way people can gatekeep knowledge or act like they’re stupid or annoying for asking questions, I can see why they’re tentative.🧵 https://cutie.city/@Quenby/112373846919511547
I’ve seen many support staff react with an “oh they’re being stupid” attitude when someone makes a mistake or doesn’t know something that they consider basic.
When mentoring, I like to remind people to think of the context. Any basic technical knowledge you have is only there because someone took the time to teach you.
Have they been given this opportunity yet? Probably not. So bear that in mind while supporting them!
People who ask questions are great. They’re trying to help themselves!
I’ve done a ton of one-on-one and group training and I always told people that the only “stupid question” was the one you didn’t ask when you had a chance to get an answer.
