I guess it was inevitable. The is starting to look more and more like the old site from which so many of us fled. I am NOT saying that hate speech dominating, I AM saying that the political rants are starting to dominate my feed. As a left-leaning moderate, I find the hardliners from both sides mostly unpalatable.

It is rare indeed to see a balanced assessment of ANY issue. I spend almost as much time updating filters these days as I do reading toots.

it's weird that, in my personal experience, millennials and below are okay from the gate on nihilistic humour, but Gen X requires some easing into it, like you could totally say "find me a window to jump out of" to a Gen Xer you knew well, but say it to a casual acquaintance and it won't go over well, whereas I feel like millennials are like mm, yes, mood.

I really miss the days when MS Office apps didn't prompt me to save a newly created file by default in OneDrive (or countless other "folders" it thinks I'm interested in).

Good morning from . My wife and I spent a week traveling the central coast of California. Except using the hotel(s) WiFi, we had very little reception - which was definitely nice. We saw waves, driftwood, elephant seals and Heart Castle. Had a lot of great meals and watch quite a few sunsets over the Pacific. Bit of a disappointment that Hwy 1 was still closed at Big Sur as we really wanted to drive down from Monterey rather than up from Pismo. All in all, it worked out just fine.

I have noticed a disturbing new trend - people boosting toots that are clearly .One of the things I hated about that other site was the constant barrage of "promoted" content. Other than blocking individual ads OR blocking the users who boost them, does anyone have any ideas on how to stop seeing this kind of content? (please boost for visibility)

I'm not usually one for giving unsolicited writing advice, but I will say this:

You cannot master writing without also practicing your powers of observation and insight. Stories of all genres are only "good" when they ring true. Truth can't be invented from whole cloth. It must first be observed and understood.

This is an important reminder in the pandemic era. Finding a balance between safety and a full life experience is difficult, but necessary.

Had some amazing chicken fettuccine alfredo with the amazing wife today for our 10 year anniversary.

Afterwards we went to the mall and did a bit of shopping and just had an overall great time. We unplugged for a bit and just enjoyed each other, enjoyed the food, the shopping and the time together.

Some times, you just need to focus on what's directly in front of you and next to you.

@mishellbaker I use edibles, mostly CBD hybrids. They really help as a rescue for severe anxiety. A much cleaner/safer alternative to Ativan/Xanax.

June 5 my husband and I are celebrating 30 yrs since our 1st date. We have always celebrated the 1st date rather than any legal commitments. We are not conventional people to say the least. 2mos after dating exclusively we visited the Rocky Mtns in his renovated school bus😍and I fell in love with his dog😂
We both owned homes, sold his, moved into mine, Bruto🐕 learned to love cats😽 We’ve had many adventures over the yrs and I hope many more to come.
Out to dinner tonight to celebrate🎊

AppleTV, a much more expensive device to do the same things that Roku does while paying a premium for all streaming content.

I get why they're pushing the device integrated apps, because without it the value prop is not great.

@BobWilliams Compared to the Firestick, it is amazing. I have always hated the Amazon interface. Never tried Roku but one of my kids has it. I still think Apple TV has the best interface, but yeah $$$$

Quick note: If you follow me, you probably noticed that I post occasional photos. Unfortunately, the default display behavior on most Mastodon instances and clients crops many images unless you click on them. I hate this, as does every other photographer here, but it's not likely to change any time soon.

You can disable this broken behavior in the Mastodon web interface by unchecking a box under display preferences.

But in any case, please be aware you might not be seeing the whole photo.
