I have a few more spoons than I have lately. TBH, it has been a rough week - I survived even if not exactly thriving. Work has been busy which is good - less time to brood. Weather has been hot of course - duh, summers. We have managed to spend a little time up at the pool. pup hasn't chewed up any home furnishings in over a week, so that is a win as well. I hope that you all have a blessed and safe .

I always liked this album (and the live one, “The Main Event,” is even better). The grooves are great, the melodies are catchy, and the solos have fire. There two make a natural pair. It just so happens that they phrase almost exactly alike—a certain fast falling off from the final note of a phrase—so they sound like one player playing a trumpet and flugelhorn at the same time.

Good morning from . is another in an increasingly common string of 100+ degree days. After a wetter than average winter, a cooler than average spring, we are moving into a hotter than average summer. Regardless of how tomatoes love the weather, it is brutalizing on the population of .

So yesterday at work - one of the dev teams mentioned in passing that they were doing schema cleanup. They are dropping 30+ columns from the table that are no longer used by the application. I asked if they were testing for downstream impact. The response? Crickets, wind in the grass, the occasional owl floating by.

No matter how long I work in IT, I am always surprised by how blind senior architects can be when it comes to data related stuff.

OI! What a week and it is just Tuesday. and yesterday have been a true shit show at work. The puppy ate two (2) dog beds, the rug by the back door and nibbled on the bottom of the stairs.

I've heard many interpretations of this piece, from ogan to orchestra and from many different conductors. Stokowski is my favorite.

Do people still use Time Machine?

@kylewritescode I have not done a full restore from it for quite a while (retrieving older file versions, yes). I run 2 external disk backups. Time Machine writes to one and CarbonCopy writes to the other. I have at different times used both of them to restore files and/or complete systems.

@kylewritescode What I like best is that they let you create a bootable disk which makes it a lot easier to use for restoring and/or cloning.

One of the things I love about Mastodon is that I can go on an angry political rant, make a joke about butts, talk to a very nice lady about Zucchini, chat about obscure Star Trek references, and learn about fossilized Sea Monster teeth all in the same 24 hours, in the same place.

So, I've mentioned that my 10yo is kinda bonkers, right? Well, today after their trip to the Grand Canyon, my mom apparently had a stroke? And the girls had to help out while they got her to the hospital?

And she DMs me like "Hey I saw the Grand Canyon today, and also I bought a pocket knife and also I got a cool sweater"

I can't decide if she thinks I'm fragile or is just... these are her priorities. At least the Grand Canyon got priority over the cool sweater?
