I stopped watching cnn long ago. In fact I do not watch any opinion news, no panels, no anger-triggering. I only get news from fact-based orgs. I don’t need to be told what opinion I should have, when I can develop sound opinions based on facts.

The difference between whoopsy and jail is regulations. Every time somebody says we need to get rid of regulations to allow for innovation, I repeat that. If you are jacking people over and not held accountable, has innovation been useful? No.

There’s a lot of talk about the harm social media does to society, but I’d argue that mainstream media is a FAR larger problem.

Fox News may be the biggest example, but there’s a rot in the entire news media complex and as usual it comes down to money. Journalism has increasingly been replaced with “narratives” and both-sides rhetoric, chasing after clicks and views and advertising dollars.

This is how fascism takes root in the 21st century, through late stage capitalism.
