Fatboy the Squirrel has opened negotiations today. At least, I believe that is what I believe his intentions to be.

I found Zara alert and begging for me to please open the window this morning. Normally there are birds chirping or a particular interesting tidbit floating around outside.

Today, to my happy surprise, Fatboy and his friend were dashing and playing through the bushes and trees. Darting through the underbrush and climbing up the bark of the tree to leap high into the air.

In what I can only assume is a testimony of his grace and power, Fatboy leapt across the yard, dashed directly at my window and then before coming too close turn hard to disappear into undergrowth. Clearly this squirrel is a champion parkour artist amongst his people.

Zara to her credit seemed readily impressed and stared at me as if to say, "If you would open this blasted barrier I could eat this guy and we could go back to more important things like petting me" though to be fair - I am not exactly sure what her mentality is in regards to these assailants.

For my part, I imagine she would find Fatboy to be more than she could handle. Clearly she has the height/weight/reach advantage but I have seen my kitty fall while sitting solidly on the floor. Fatboy would clearly go to the last round of American Ninja Warrior - I imagine he would be able to make light work of her pursuits.

I just read the preamble to a document on finding income as a writer and one of the top resource suggestions was, become a high paid freelance writer.

I hope this was written by a chatbot. But I fear it was a filler paragraph by a real person.

Unrelated - I have decided that I am now a high paid freelance writer and will be accepting 5 and 6-digit proposals (left side of zero please) for my efforts directly at this time.

I am unsure if that is "high paid" but I am a quick typist ( :blobcateyesblush: ) and imagine with inflow from this new found wealth stream it should be 'good enough' if not quite fully qualified.

The morning finds me raising windows, throwing open curtains and trying to bring in more light!

Indirect sunlight is always my favorite. I am most definitely a cat person. I see my kitkat rolling and enjoying her time in the sun, and though I am not exactly envious...I do sometimes wish I could take such pleasures.

For me, I have more road noise than I would like but it is temporary. The sounds and breeze mingle to join me through my windows. As the morning wanes the noises will subside with them and I will hear the anachronistic sounds of nature competing with society.

Normally a soundtrack persists. I woke up singing songs of longing and sweet intimate moments. But for now, the only music I hear is from the birds calling to each other against the backdrop of the ambient sounds of earth.

The birds trill against swaying bumping noises of the blinds, their cords moving against the wind to collide in time with the wall. Zara is making noises with her blankets, there is a truck in the distance backing up, or warning others they are about to do so.

I hope you have a wonderful day. I hope that the joy and positivity in the world finds you and fills you with happiness and joy today.

There is a little girl busy explaining something rather exciting to her...father? He is older but not quite grandparent older so I'm guessing older Dad.

She is bouncing and talking with her hands and jumping excitedly as she discussed something just absolutely wonderful for her. He is laughing while she talks and has a wonderful smile on his face. He likely isn't keeping up with the story but the joy in their hearts as they move down the sidewalk is amazing. She has his hand, his attention, and all is right in the world.

Journal of Zara - Unknown entry number

It has been untold moments since my relocation. We are in a new place now. It is not like the old place but also not like the old old place in the before. Hold! ...something approaches.
It was nothing I could not bop, a dog or some slight - the wind perhaps. This place has many soft places. I like to -- Hold! Did the man move to the area of snacks? No. It remains upright, staring at the warm light while marking the thing that smells with its clawless...pads. They are not graceful as our claws. No matter.
This place has a dark Hold! ... something approaches.

The man had moved into the area of snacks. Fortunately it was smart enough this time to give me the snacks. The man and its kind are so clueless until you yell at them.

The dark place, it is new and forbidden. The man pretends it can capture me whenever I approach so I allow it to bar me with the temporary walls. The smells tell of its resting place, though why it chooses to only sleep seems dull. That makes sense. Hold! the man is making noises in the area of snacks. It is late, I imagine it will finally unearth the fish it has discovered for my approval.

My profile picture is kind of a misnomer. He is a normal guy in a grey shirt. Look at him smiley and waving... cute little guy. 😺

IRL Alex is slightly larger and much older. Also, since you can't see the Miata in the shot you can't tell how silly I would look in such a car.

Side story: I wanted a PT Cruiser but there is zero chance those are Alex safe vehicles. I looked like a character from the Flintstones.

Squirrel updates

I apologize for the delay in communications. The squirrel war has resolved as we both have a new enemy...roofers.

They have gone aground as we watch these men crawl like squirrels on the house. Fatboy saw them arriving. He looked over at me with and with a curt nod, we both agreed a truce was in order.

We might war, but we are at the very least civilized about it. These men are using guns with air machines and vehicles! Fatboy and I agree that this was is best fought by creature such as we. Civil, organized, with decorum.

I don't have the details on hand, but there is a documentary "The Great Hack", that discussed this and other social engineering experiences. Making it "cool" or "popular" to be uncaring, allows the right the opportunity to further eradicate your safety systems.
