The GameBoy had some amazing games. 🥰
I wasn't quite ready to let this system go, after speeding through Mario Land 2. So I played SML 1 too (first try, no savestates, 35 minutes) and I'm now replaying #DonkeyKong. I forgot how clever the game is at showing what you can do and how it keeps adding new things all the way until the end. I'm now at the second to last stage and I still haven't reached the "let's get this over with" state. 😁

I might have just sped through #SuperMarioLand 2 - Six Golden Coins. 😅
That's been on my replay list for a while and it seemed fitting after Super Mario World. I remember spending hours upon hours with this game as a kid and I was genuinely surprised that I just ran through it in about an hour.
Then again, I was very much "eyes on the price" and didn't look for any secrets.
Still my least favorite Mario on the GameBoy. 🤔

I beat #SuperMarioWorld with all secrets. In truth, I only have 95/96 exits, but I definitely went through all levels, so I assume I missed a regular exit somewhere in the Forest of Illusion.
Anyway, I'm done and happy. This was a joy to revisit. 🥰

I listened to a podcast about #SuperMarioWorld and that really made me want to pick it back up.
So I did! 🤩
What an amazing game. I wasn't able to appreciate it as a kid, because I wanted the "better looking" Donkey Kong, but SMW has aged much better in comparison. The levels are breezy and I'm already knocking at the doors of castle 3 and 4 (there are some secret levels skipping castle 3).
I only wanted to dip in for a few levels, but I think I'll finish this again.

The Skeleton trap has been sprung and it was glorious!!! 🤩
When I unveiled the hidden tokens and 16 dice flew across the screen rolling initiative, there were some audible gasps and at least one "oh shit". 🥳
Despite the large number of enemies, the encounter was actually well balanced. The enemies made chip damage and were sturdy enough to tank at least one hit. Some were locked into adjacent rooms and broke through the doors eventually, complicating the fight nicely.

I managed to play some #Firewatch -- finally. This has been on my radar for a long while, but I finally took the plunge after reading this essay here:

I've played somewhere between 3 and 4h and I think I'm almost done with it. It's a great game and saying much more would be spoiling it. Give it a try if you're into walking sims.
It's also very pretty. 🤩 I took a bunch of screenshots, but their stuck on my PC. I'll try to post some next time.

Anybody else using #Gerrit for code reviews?
Most other #Git servers have a repo browser and render markdown. That'd be really helpful for any non-developers, because we try to keep our documentation in Git, but it's a tough ask for any non-developer to learn how to check out a Git repo, just to read the docs.
Is there anything like that out there? I did a quick search for 3rd party tools and plugins, but couldn't find anything. Readonly mirror to e.g. Forgejo would be the last resort.

Played the first round of #MarioKart 7 online on the #3ds against somebody from Hungary...with #Pretendo.
I'm still amazed at all the work that's been done. It went flawlessly. 🤩

Sadly, I'm still having trouble with Mario Maker on 3ds. The compatibility chart shows that replacements for online features should mostly work, but so far I'm always seeing errors when I try to connect. 🤔

More...moooore...mooooore DnD prep going on. 😅
I feel like I'm doing it wrong, because I've already put in more hours than I'm intending to GM this thing.
But I'm also a bit rusty, not having GMed in five years or more. 😬
There's also a fair chance that I'm estimating the playtime wrongly. I expect 2 sessions with 2-2.5h each, but with three possible combat encounters that can easily blow up to 3 or 4 sessions.

Sorry for ranting so much about DnD. I'm surprised at how much being creative has improved my mood over the last few days.
I've been really down, exhausted and grumpy lately, but putting work into these characters, encounters, maps and descriptions has revitalized me.
It might sound like I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. Revitalized is actually a fitting word. I still feel tired, but more like usual-parent-tired, not close-to-burned-out-exhausted. 😬
I'm real happy right now. That's all. 🙂

Made surprising amounts of progress in prepping my next DnD adventure. 💪
I'm still struggling with the finer points of the actual plot, but I feel like the maps and encounters are pretty much ready.
I don't want to put too much effort into the plotting, but as things are now they don't even make sense to me.
It's very likely that my players wouldn't notice, but it bothers me. 😅 Eventually they'll also want to talk to the NPCs and things might unravel real fast if I don't have a clear idea. 😬

Yeah, new game. 💪
I'm kinda not in the mood for an animated VN like Zero Time Dilemma (and I'm 99% certain that I've finished it before).
Luckily I remembered that I have #Desperados 3 installed. I loved Mimimi's #ShadowTactics and have bought this ages ago. I wanted a "short" break from real time tactics, so...I kinda forgot about it.
It's just as great as I imagined it would be. 🤩
Only played two missions, but it's still fun to strategically dismantle a band of enemies.

Aaaaaaaaargh. I hate this whole Bitcoin weirdness. I just want to get rid of the bit of crypto I won in a writing contest and I'd live to give it to a FOSS project.
But now I need to learn about Lightning and sign up at an exchange and whatnot!?! 🤬
Does anybody know some FOSS projects that accept lightning transfers directly, so I can fasttrack this process and be done with crypto ASAP?
I really don't want another account and another wallet. 😩

I'm thinking about putting #LineageOS on my mother in law's phone. It's pretty old and my intention is to make it a boy more secure and maybe less laggy.
Should I be looking elsewhere or how does #LineageOS perform on older phones? Maybe an even more basic #Android install if I can find it?

My assumption yesterday was correct. I played through "Till Death Do Us Part" in #Hitman Blood Money twice more.
Once I limited the FPS to 60 using #MangoHud the game finally no longer crashed after the mission.
I sped through the next mission with the Sheikh in Vegas, too. Left a body in the toilets (undiscovered), used a lot of explosives, didn't care about the cameras that recorded me and ultimately just ran for it. Still got a "Professional" rating for that. 😅

Argh. I managed to stealth my way to two "Silent Assassin" ratings and then axe murdered my way through a third mission (because I ran out of time and patience), but the game crashed. I hope that doesn't always happen in this mission. I'm planning to come back with more patience soon. 😅
For reference: it's that damn Tennessee wedding mission. An early disguise is easy to get, but you have to wait aaaaages for the drunk guest to stumble out of sight. 😩

Made some decent progress. I #Hitman'ed through 3 missions in Blood Money. Almost managed a fourth one, too, but I had to quit and saves don't persist once you've left the mission. 😬
Nevermind. I've gotten a feel for the place now and I'll be able to speed through the next time.
Still have to figure out how to get that mysogonist bastard in the pool though. 🤔
It's fun to replay these missions. I've seen them countless times before, but I'm still learning new things.

I vaguely remember starting it and it seems familiar going by the few scenes I saw from a trailer, but I can't remember anything about it. 😬

This is an amazing game and I'm happy to play it again. Even though I haven't played it in forever, I still remember a lot about this game, e.g. what to do with the red paint. 😬

So far, I've done a few things with Hoagie in the past, up to the point where Laverne finally becomes playable. I still have to search the Edison mansion with Bernard.

Things are looking up. I'm still hoarse and coughing a lot, but yesterday I felt like I could reach Vin Diesel depths with my voice (no speaking, just growling). 😬
I feel like getting sick used to be much more "fun" when I was younger. With kids running around there's practically no chance to sleep it off and/or start gaming once you're too sick to work, but not sick enough to sleep all day. 😅
