@jpm @Kels_316 Was planning to build a portable pi computer thingy, I knew I would have to probably adress this at some point... :kekw:

panes are very helpful for running @kunanyicam

I can have one window for running the bot itself, one for the timelapse I just set up, and one for just general tasks - idk checking if it's actually saving files, things like that.

especially useful in an SSH situation like the one at hand, otherwise you would have to split your local terminal into seperate SSH sessions and aaaa...

Umm...So I went to fix @kunanyicam saying that the temp is 'none', and found out that it wasn't actually running anywhere on the server...but it was still operational for some reason...

I don't know why I'm getting ads for apple-only software when reddit knows full well from the subreddits I participate in that I am definitely not an apple user...

WOWOWOW

I just found a really old post on how to turn lights on and off from the commandline by sending raw bytes cached in a file (we're talking like \x2a\x00\x00\x34\ kinda thing) to it's IP adress.

I might...be able to make a commandline lifx controller. There doesn't seem to be any out there as of now. Maybe even a #C library if I want to go down the rabbithole of trying to build a library in a language I'm not very familiar with

It's wonderful that lifx opensources their protocol.

WATSON has been busy examining rocks and regolith in the rover's new workspace, but it took time out to take a photo of PIXL's calibration target.

This target includes disks to provide X-ray backscatter, and three other responses. The central cross, a chromium line and a nickel line, is for position characterization.

The pseudo-random distribution of black dots is for calibrating PIXL's micro-context camera's laser pattern generator, used for distance measurements.

@tom30519 Somehow the fact that we still use screws and hex bolts in space amazes me.

mightyspaceman,
@mightyspaceman@aus.social avatar

@tom30519 It's one of those things where it makes sense logically, but just seems out of place...I mean the hex bolts not so much, but something about the phillips head screws just mess with my brain

Whoever planned and designed that Google login pop-up that nearly every site now uses, deserves to be whacked.

mightyspaceman,
@mightyspaceman@aus.social avatar

@cyberjunkie I have been wanting to get out of the whole google ecosystem...well, mostly just in terms of password management. I still value my YT and gmail.

but for now my brain values the tiny dopamine hit of having to press two buttons to sign in over my privacy. that said, it's not like I particularly...distrust google. it's just a maybe maybe situation.
