Yesterday, I published a list of things that I’m excited for in the world of technology. Including a bit about the modded iPod I’m using now.

Tech Is Still Cool.

In almost every example, the pre-Big Sur icon is better than the Big Sur-ified version.

Ordered a 2015 11-inch MacBook Air from OWC last night.

I have a couple of 2011 models, but only one is functioning at the moment.

The other needs a new battery and a new trackpad, but I suspect there’s an issue with the logic board as well.

The 11-inch MacBook Air is my favorite Mac of all time. And this is (nearly) the best version — it has the i5 instead of the i7. It can run Monterey without any hacks, but I’ll probably use it as a dedicated Linux machine.

What if we all just decided to stop observing daylight savings time?

The only reason we still have it is because we keep changing the clocks when they tell us to.

First full day with the iPod and my iPhone + iPad screen time has been cut in half.

Offline devices feel refreshing.

I wish there was an app like Amphetamine for iOS. It would be useful when I’m putting Caleb down for a nap and want to see the stopwatch section of the Clock app on screen indefinitely.

Been cleaning up my home office and just found the Raspberry Pi that’s been missing since we moved six years ago.

Anyone have ideas about what I could do with a Raspberry Pi 3 B+?

I ended up switching to Nobara — installing GPU drivers and running games through Proton are pretty much seamless.

I haven’t been able to get VNC working, though. So I’m stuck using RDP for now, which isn’t supported by my preferred app — Screens.

Hopefully, once I have the system setup, I can use SSH for most of what I would want to do so the lack of VNC isn’t so annoying.

They mentioned their existing controller support. Did they say anything about the new USB-C port’s video output support? Will latency be better than video out over Lightning?

I feel like it says something that I’d rather learn how to use Neovim rather than use Visual Studio Code.

I don’t know what it says, but it says something.

They just announced a feature that helps prevent kids from holding displays too close to their face.

And then they announce a product that straps a display to your face.
