At home: I don’t even have one. For small quantities I use a salt grinder (matches my pepper grinder). For larger quantities, such as when cooking, I just pour directly from the 500g pack.
Yes. It’s a simple toggle that can be added to the qyickbar: “airplane mode on/off”. And while it’s on, you can override it with individual settings, such as turning on bluetooth while everything remains off. Hazzle free and fast.
I use this feature a lot, as I fly very often, and I use bluetooth buds. I have filled my phone to the brim with various media to binge until touchdown. It helps conserve battery, as the radio doesn’t have to TX at full power while looking for a signal at FL500 in the middle of the Atlantic
Personally work in IT, mostly fixing server and infrastructure. Big fan of listening to ambiance music while working: the kind of music and sounds that make you forget that you’re listening to it, to me, that’s the perfect kind of working music. Otherwise I will listen to game and movie soundtracks from Lotr, Star Wars,...
Some instrumentals, some video game music, some electronica. The general theme is that i can properly listen to it without diverting too much of my focus, as opposed to the progmetal I normally listen to.
To simplify the current-aspect: When in comes to powersupplies, it helps to think about mA or Amperes as “capacity”. Under normal circumstances, too much won’t hurt. In many cases, too little might actually work too. So when searching for a suitable powersupply, the Voltage should be the same, amperes should be “enough”, and the polarity must match.
If your hardware lists Watts instead of Amperes, you can use Ohms law to calculate between the two:
P = U x I
Or in other words: Watts (W) = Voltage (V) x Current (A)
I haven’t seen much 18W charging from the smaller banks, but I use this one, and find it pretty convenient: www.eldirekte.no/…/p1001029953 (couldn’t find a link in english, sorry. Google translate is your friend)
My employer bought a bunch of them to hand out to everyone. I believe it’s the largest battery allowed on planes, and as we’re often in transit it comes in really handy. The formfactor is small enough to fit 8n my pocket.

Among all of the visual information published by the U.S. government, there may be no product with a higher information density than the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) aviation maps. I have a bunch of these myself. When first learning how to read them, the level of information density took me a while to overcome and get used to, but as these are internationally standardized, once you can read one, you can read them all.
Let’s say that it’s scientifically proven that ghosts exist. Would they then stop being supernatural and become natural, thus making it impossible to ever have proof of the supernatural?
Reminds me of this ships doctor I was chitchattibg with. He said something along the lines of:
"The difference between a doctor and a witch doctor isn’t that big. The main difference is in sticking to what has been proven to work, and discarding what doesn’t
It must be exhausting being like these guys. Imagine spending that much emotional energy on hating stuff that you can just as easily ignore and go about your day.
Waiting at the first airport right now. There’s no beer here though, as it’s a tiny local airport with only a vending machine. But in about two hours I’ll be landing at a larger regional one. As I’m a very frequent flier this means lounge access and free beer during my three hour wait.
One of my kids is currently attending a birthday party at the local trampoline park, so as I’m the driver I’m currently playing chess and writing this post while waiting. By the time I get home it’s time to herd half of my offsprings to bed, after which I have a few beers waiting for me, as well as a savegame in Songs of Syx I started on yesterday.
Oh, and I finally found a replacement wrist band that fits my Garmin watch today, so I’m replacing it at some point during the evening.
Because I have four kids, so I need that big of a car to fit the entire household. If it wasn’t for that I would probably drive my jurassic era car for another decade.
Two months ago we started a NCD Matrix chatroom and it’s done pretty well. There were zero national security incidents and only one █████ ██ ██████ █████. It’s also taken the place of the weekly low effort thread and I think that’s probably for the best. The chatroom seems to be a much...
