I’m paying for Internet at my house and at my studio which are like less than 300 feet apart. What sort of wireless device should I be looking at to share Internet between the two buildings? A lot of things I’m seeing like the nanobeam are for larger distances.

Panorama of area. House is green building on left and studio is dark blue metal building on right. We have line of site (might be disrupted by delivery trucks though)

like can I just get one of these and mount it on the outside of the office? or do I need one on each building? (nanostation loco 5ac) https://store.ui.com/us/en/collections/uisp-wireless-airmax-5-ghz-client-compact/products/loco5ac

@tedmielczarek there's already so much stuff trenched in that area. wish I had thought to do this a couple years ago. we have water and solar power lines and a septic tank in that zone

hello friends! I'm looking to commission an artist to make an animal illustration for a jigsaw puzzle similar in style to our Herding Cat Puzzle. Do you know anyone? (Anne who created the art for our cat puzzle is not available sadly) https://n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com/blog/?p=8637#mastoart

My favorite shot from the MIT video is the one of me attempting to work on my laptop in the fabrication shop while my baby does tummy time on the workbench https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVNwUMWGO0s

The pieces of this neuron mini puzzle will be embedded as a hidden Easter egg in a new jigsaw puzzle we are working on. It’s only 8 pieces but very tricky

I’m trying to find the dirt in my microscope. So far everything has been dirty but somehow not been the specific dirt I’m looking for

Preparing to remove the head of my scope. It’s wearing pink eyepatches
Some dirt is found! But not the dirt I’m looking for

nervous_jessica,
@nervous_jessica@mastodon.social avatar

@barrygoldman1 easier to see in video. there’s a dirty surface somewhere between the objectives and the eyepieces. Seems like I need to take apart the turret or maybe the head

@barrygoldman1 there are streaks on the slide but what I’m worried about is the background dirt that isn’t moving

When we bought our home in the Catskills (almost 5 years ago!), we imagined enhancing the landscape with sculptures and experiments we would create. This is the first sculpture we've made for our land.

We’ve been working with this leaf vein simulation for more than a decade now! We’ve adapted it to jewelry, 3d-printed lampshades and large scale public artworks

@luis_in_brief the large scale sculpture is in a corporate headquarters in North Carolina. We haven’t posted the write up of that in our blog yet

We've all been there: it's puzzle time, but once you dump out the pieces and start laying them flat, you realize you don't have enough space on your table. Join me as we use physics to find out ✨HOW BIG A TABLE YOU NEED FOR YOUR JIGSAW PUZZLE ✨

nervous_jessica,
@nervous_jessica@mastodon.social avatar

@tmr232 @mbonsma at least I don’t think so. They seem to approximate pieces as being solid. Our pieces are highly dissected.

nervous_jessica,
@nervous_jessica@mastodon.social avatar

@mbonsma @tmr232 we specialize in tricky jigsaw puzzles. probably most wooden puzzles would pose a challenge for estimation due to varied piece shapes and whimsy figures

@jon two editions of the IL journal published by Frei Otto’s institute for lightweight structures. One of them was definitely IL 33 on Radiolaria. Not sure which the other was

nervous_jessica,
@nervous_jessica@mastodon.social avatar

@jon they are somewhere in between a journal and a series of monographs. I think his students contributed chapters and experiments to each edition
