My post earlier today has been (as of this moment) liked 102 times and boosted 66 times and I've received a separate notification for EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.
How did anybody believe this is a good design? Why aren't these notifications aggregated?
I participated in a workshop by city of #portland to discuss civic use of AI. I contributed a rubric of "assistive" versus "determinative". The first case may be a helpful use (subject to usual concerns about energy, creative rights, bias, etc etc etc). The second case is where things get dangerous. #pdx
@oh_that_courtney OMG how did I not know about Orville Peck!? This makes my heart glad and also a bit sad to know that Rainbow Cattle Company is no more.
What if they gave an election and nobody showed up?
State of Texas -- as part of its "screw with cities" agenda -- allowed some areas to vote yesterday to dis-annex from their city.
Some areas in #Austin voted to do so. River Place voted to dis-annex with one single vote. Not "by one vote", but one single person showed up and voted in this election.
Some areas didn't have anybody show up at all -- zero votes registered.
A reminder that if Nancy Pelosi and the DCCC would have stayed the fuck out of the way, Jessica Cisneros (a bad ass Justice Democrat) might be representing the Rio Grande instead of this pro-gun, anti-abortion, corrupt jerkwad..
Hey #Austin peeps ... there's election ratfuckery going on. The state is trying to undermine the local tax base by putting wingnuts in charge of property tax assessments. It's an off cycle election to try to discourage turnout ... so it's extremely important to show up.
The ballot is super easy and quick and there have been no lines. So please vote Austin. It would be better if you did.
I'm not even bothering with this season of ST:DISCO. Every time I've tried a past season, I couldn't finish it. It breaks my heart, because I love the cast.
On the other hand, I adore ST:SNW to bits. I'm so ready for more of that.
