I've been in the games industry. I know how toxic some companies are. I know how radioactive most of the online gamer communities are. I know how horrible it is for girls in those environments. I know of, and despise gamergate. I was working on opposing it back then, and I know it still exists.

Aware of all that, I still don't understand why inclusivity would be helped by having gender-exclusive pro tournaments. Girls can whoop boys, no problem?

Please educate me.

i'm not a gamer, but i'm a woman, and as a woman i can say that i do find the occasional women-only spaces relaxing. there is no one there who'd be asshole and wouldn't see me as a person, or as a human being, just because i am not a male. i don't need to ne afraid of that. no, i don't trust men as a collective. sori siitä.

imo "structural oppression" is also just a fancy name of bullying. sometimes those who have been bullied need a break and safer space.

it's a complex topic. i think that spesific, exclusive places / spaces are likely useful to have to some extent always. whether they are for instance women-only, queer-only, men-only, brown-people only, etc. but esp in this hopefully a transtional period to more just and equal world.

a bit different - but mastodon is imo a safer space for leftists. it's got a different, freeer atmosphere bc of that.

elokapina is mentioned in the film, but not emphasized, and i didn't like much some shots which focused on piercings and a young man who wore nail polish. also the emphasis on youth at least on the description of the movie was disturbing.

Yksilön syyllistämisestä.

Ymmärrän että esim ilmastokatastrofista tai lajikadosta on epäreilua syyttää yksittäisiä ihmisiä.

Samaten mietin, että on ihan ok nostaa esiin ihmisten tekemiä tiedostamattomia valintoja.

Omassa lapsuudessa ei ollut puhettakaan että joku olisi vegaani. En edes tuntenut ketään vegaania.

Kierrätettiinkö? Ei.

Nykyään kierrätetään ja itsekin syön ison osan viikosta kasvisruokaa.

Koen että molemmat syyllistymisen ansiosta.

häpeän ja häpäisyn historia ihmisten käytöksen kontrolloinnissa on pitkä ja toksinen -- ja harkittuani lisään vielä sanan patriarkaalista paskaa -- (kirkonpuut, naisten tukkien leikkaaminen jos olivat olleet suhteissa väärien sotilaiden kanssa, jne) ja siksikin haluan ainakin jkv vältellä sellaista. ilmastoliike on hyvien puolella, keinot ei silloin voi olla mitä vain.

oh this brings me back memories of those days years ago when i learnt about isds:s (or whatever the acronym) such as ect. aaargh.

i took part in a campaign against ect, as well as against our state-majority-own energy company fortum who had just purchased allotta ff, and they got involved in ect issues as well.

i still have a pic of a banner we made for the campaign attached to my profile (header pic?)
