IRS Audit of Could Cost Former President More Than $100 Million

The tax agency concluded in its long-running investigation that Trump effectively claimed the same massive write-off twice on his failed Chicago tower. https://www.propublica.org/article/trump-irs-audit-chicago-hotel-taxes

@GottaLaff This part made me roll my eyes so hard: "Mr. Trump went so far as to blame the bank and its peers for 'creating the current financial crisis.' He demanded $3 billion in damages."

I told y'all, cops don't do what you think they do.🤷🏿‍♂️

Black folk know this from lived experience. Some white folk only learn this when they go to report a theft or sexual assault and find out that the $11B/year NYPD are not equipped to handle that.

@mekkaokereke $11B might sound like a lot at first, but how else will they stop the people in the city who are selling loose cigarettes?

Ads now in a Amazon Prime Video? is this #enshitification ?

Started watching Meercat Manor (narated soap opera with meercats), and a couple of times in 20 minutes up come ads you can not fast forward through.

:(. 💩

@pcyx@c.im avatar

@brewsterkahle It was recently announced that they'd be adding ads to prime video, unless you pay an additional $2.99 per month to remove them.

Call me a radical Lefty, but I don’t think an entry-level federal employee should be subject to more stringent ethics rules than Clarence Thomas.

@rbreich I always felt that higher rank people and people in positions of authority should be held to higher standards. Though it usually seems to be the opposite in practice.

And "voluntarily giving up your job as a public servant" should not be considered a replacement for justice if laws have been broken.

I was watching an old episode of and there were these two Dutch dudes doing a over the music of Madonna's Holiday.

They were called DJ Mike Wiffwaff and Sven or something. And it was so fucking lousy.

I've always loathed the casual kind of rap, like, Hey! Rap's really easy! sort of thing. I mean, it really displays its cultural appropriation. It's just an embarrassment.

pcyx,
@pcyx@c.im avatar

@lydiaconwell Rappin' Rodney immediately came to mind. Wikipedia describes it as a "rap-inspired novelty record" and that seems about right to me for many of those types of songs...

If you're wondering how my radio interview went this morning, I got a question about the phrase "quiet quitting" and was able to go off about how stupid it is that we culturally expect people to go "above and beyond" at work ... so I'd say it went well. :)

pcyx,
@pcyx@c.im avatar

@cwwilkie @grammargirl Hah, I've also gotten a "met expectations" because "we expected a lot of you and you delivered".

My manager later admitted (when neither of us were working there) that the company had a quota for how many "good" reviews they allowed managers to issue each year, because pay raises were tied to that. So he would spread the glowing reviews around to make sure everyone was getting raises, just couldn't all be at once. He would also sometimes be commanded to give poorer reviews to certain people that the bosses didn't personally like or who were making too much money and they wanted to "starve them out" ...

@boilingsteam in my own Steam library, only 7% of games are marked as Stream Deck verified or playable. But most of the "unknown" status games I've tried are working okay.
