Unsere Türschließanlage hat gestern das Zeitliche gesegnet und wir suchen Ersatz.
Bisher hatten wir eine HM-Sec-Key im Einsatz.

Wie steuert ihr die Türen eurer Hackspaces? Mit welcher Hardware habt ihr gute oder weniger gute Erfahrungen gemacht?

@krautspace Wir haben da was selbst gehacktes. Steppermotor > Motorsteuerung und n SoC mit 3 ssh usern: open (Spacetür aufschliessen) und summer (elektrisches Öffnen der Hauseingangstür) brauchen auth und sind nur im internene Netz. close hat ein leeres passwort, schliesst die Tür ab und is immer erreichbar.

    Du bist doch als Lehrkraft garnich qualifiziert worden dafür... Is ja quasi nur Glück, dass du da ein Interesse hast.

    Kennst du dich ein bisschen mit network boot aus?
    Ich mach das gerne in Umgebungen, wo gerne mal wilde Nutzer passieren.
    Ein Image das via Netzwerk überall gestartet wird mit eingehängten Netzlaufwerken für alles Permanente. Wenn dann Schülys mal ihr MS Konto einloggen einfach neustarten und alles is gone.
    Nachteil dabei is, dass du das gesondert pflegen mussst.

    @andreasgoebel Da haste mich misinterpretiert. Die Aussage lautet: Als Lehryund auch im Informatikstudium wirst du ja nicht qualifiziert für den praktischen Betrieb solch einer Anlage.
    Informatik gibt dir die theoretischen Grundlagen was da passiert, aber (hoffentlich) keine Tipps für Windows Gruppenrichtilinien.
    Im Lehramtsstudium steht zusätzlich noch die Didaktik im Vordergrund.
    Praktische Ausbildung für sysOp findet in beiden Fällen nicht statt. Ergo werden Lehrys nicht qualifiziert.

    @andreasgoebel Es wird schon massiv viel in Windows server rumgeklickt. *nix existiert als einzelne Wocheneinheit.
    Die Ausbildung produziert am ehesten Turnschuhadmins.

    @2ndStar Mal ne freundliche Nachfrage: Nutzt du version control?
    Ich lese hier zu häuffig, dass du dir "alles zerschossen" hast und dich das frustriert.
    Wenn ich alles zeracke mach ich n git checkout main oder halt git checkout $tag wenn ich mir im devbranch n tag gesetzt habe. Das hat mich schon oft vor nervenzusammenbrüchen bewahrt.

    I'm looking for software that allows me to reliably stream 1080p30 H.264 with audio from my computer to another over the internet, with minimal latency and good quality.

    If it can traverse NAT on both ends, that's a plus, but having to run some sort of proxy server on a Linux cloud machine is ok too, I guess.

    Use case: Watching arbitrary video (including paid streaming) together remotely, without having to use flaky websites or browser extensions.

    Open source or commercial.

    @scy Have your tried just using icecast2?
    Just stream the whole display of one machine. Had no issues with unjustified bandwidth problems. Question is: can you multicast? Often ISPs limit that ability and without a tunnel/server. You might run into problems if you have to one-to-one stream to every single participant.

    Ich hatte gestern 2158 Boosts :boost: und Favorisierungen 🌟, dazu kamen noch 422 Kommentare / direkte Erwähnungen.

    Gehen wir davon aus das ein Tag nur 24 Stunden hat und Ich ~8 Stunden davon schlafe, dann gibt es 16 Stunden in denen Ich Kommentare lesen könnte oder auf Benachrichtigungen eingehen könnte!

    422 Kommentare / 16 Stunden ≈ 26,4 Kommentare / Stunde.

    Wenn Ich also jede wache Stunde auf Mastodon verbringe habe Ich ungefähr alle zwei Minuten was zu tun und zu beantworten! Was Ich damit nur sagen will ist: Es tut mir Leid wenn Ich manchmal Dinge überlese! Mastodon Benachrichtigungen sind nicht wie E-Mails welche erst als „gelesen” markiert werden wenn man diese individuell ansieht — manchmal gehen Dinge also leicht unter.

    Ich habe deshalb in meinem Profil viele Kontaktwege notiert, und wenn es mit einer Markierung im Fediverse mal nicht klappt könnt ihr mich gerne über diese anschreiben! Hehe :ablobcatheartsqueeze:

    Is there some kind of tool or daemon or something that I can use to lock multiple computers simultaneously?

    Like, I currently have two laptops on my desk, one Linux, one Windows. When I leave the desk, I have to lock the screen on both machines manually.

    Instead, I'd love to hit a shortcut on one of them, and both screens lock.

    I'm okay with having to unlock them separately afterwards. In fact, I'd prefer that to one machine somehow unlocking the other over the network 🫣

    My idea would only lock with the help of the intended proximity feature, without the proximity problem. Since you will immediately lock, because you kill the BT specifically and not rely on your devices "loosing signal". Visual confirmation is possible.

    Technical Cat Question

    Edit: I have decided, as we have no guests, to store it in the guestroom cupboard, which has 2 doors!
    Zaz has become obsessed with chewing my exercise mat, even rolled up. She finds wherever I hide it, no matter where I put it. If I can reach it, so can she, only more easily. I don't have a cupboard with a door (if I did she would work out how to open it or scratch the door to pieces to try to get in).

    @EllieK there's research suggesting that cats experience a stronger effect from sniffing thinners. like with the glue of cardboard boxes, grocery bags and so on. they basically hotbox these fumes whenever they can. maybe hanging your mat unrolled outside for a while might help. reply with results if any occur.

    @publicvoit @heiseonline Mein letzten Perso habe ich das bild per mail geschickt. die hatten nen Fotokleinformatdrucker neben der "Persostation" Haben mein Foto gedruckt und dann in den hochsicheren Persoscanner gelegt.
    Brauchst nur kreative Sachbearbeitys und die Digitalisierung funktioniert 😆

    @NanoRaptor Could I pick your brain on a print problem?

    I'm working with a GBA E-Reader that had software distributed on playing cards as a 342DPI dot code. I'm able to make homebrew for it and would like to get new cards made.

    I've barely been able to print valid 300DPI codes with direct thermal, I think the original cards were halftone screen printed. I know someone who got cards made with offset and the dot code bled and didn't work

    Would you have any ideas for how/where to get cards made?

    A original E-Reader playing card. The dots in the 2D barcode are very precise and the sharp edges make me think it was made using screen printing
    My own attempt at printing using a direct thermal label maker. This is at 300 DPI instead of the original 342.39 DPI which is barely compatible with the hardware still.
    This was a card made by makeplayingcards.com . I couldn't find printing specs on their site before it was ordered, but it now seems like they use rosette offset printing. The bleeding between the dots makes the code invalid when scanning.
