I don’t know if recent NVIDIA drivers, or a recent update to the Linux kernel did this, but battery life on standby on my laptop (12rh gen intel + RTX3050Ti) has improved significantly!

Usually, if I left it on suspend overnight, it drained about 20% of its battery. Yesterday it lost something like 6%!

pjol,

@thelinuxEXP I’ve also noticed a overall improvement with battery life on kernel 6.4.x albeit on Intel only laptop (i7-1260p with iGPU). On Fedora 38 fwiw

pjol,

@saaste Thx.

Toinen vinkki: Brave browserin sisäänrakennettun Shields avulla saa jonkin verran YT roskaa pois. Mm recommended, up next, comments, shorts.
Eli optiona ladata se ja käyttä sitä eikä tuota virallista YT appia puhelimessa. Toimii Android ja iPhone.

Vacation, day 4. Added Floorp and Tempest in the VM dedicated for testing among other things browsers.

Floorp = modern Firefox.

Tempest - Striving(?) to become Brave without crypto. 🤔

So I’ve used Vivaldi exclusively on Windows and Linux for five days now. And it’s.. mostly positive. Some weirdness when browsing, like randomly nothing happening for maybe a second or two after entering a url and pressing enter.
And to me it is noticeable that Vivaldi overall is slower compared to others. No way around it I guess with all their built in..features.

I will say the Workspaces feature is good for me as a way to keep different topics grouped.

Getting to the point where I need new running trainers. Something both for gym and outdoors if possible.

I’d appreciate recommendations please. Thanks in advance.

pjol,

@habibcham @JRP69 Uggs obviously.

Yes I own a pair 😂

    There are some limits. See post from Mona dev below.
    Personally I’ve used load from remote server as default for over two months and not had any issues. But anyway, use at your own risk.

    @remindme finns men då utvecklaren inte har tid så är den inaktiverad.

    All the settings, toggles and options I’m offered in Firefish is a bit overwhelming. But to be fair I’ve not spent more than 20 min in total in it since I registered for a account 4 months ago when it was still called Calckey.

    But time to get a bit more comfortable in it just so I know should I ever be asked how my experience has been with it compared to something like Mastodon I can comment from a place of experience rather than making stuff up for whatever reason.

    Hope I made sense here 😅

    pjol,

    First thing I notice is that Firefish design is beautiful and feels more modern/polished compared to default Mastodon.

    @updates I hope there is plans on enabling notifications via fetch schedule at some point? Currently notifications (push?) seems to be locked behind creating a Big Mail Online account?

    Really enjoying the app so far 👍

    pjol, (edited )

    @updates

    I would really like to see you change phrasing under "Do i have to use Big Mail Online?" To state that to have any notifications at all it requires it, and not how you currently present it.

    To be forced to sign up on yet another account online, just to get notifications is a no go for me. And i imagine i will not be alone. Too bad, you had soo much going for you.

    How is fetch confusing to explain? A user that chooses fetch is in most cases already aware of fetch limit/behaviour

    pjol,

    @updates

    And to be clear i´d have no issues paying a subscription even without having access to your Big Mail Online service and just having fetch and a lesser feature set.

    I only use mail on one device so i have no need for "Sync your Smartboxes, Notes, Labels and more".

    I do hope you reconsider fetch.

    Edit: No issue with subscription provided a somewhat reasonable pricing.

    pjol,

    @updates Never used 1.0 so i don´t know how it informed users. But could there be room to improve how users were informed what could happen when they selected fetch.

    Like explaining in big bold red letters that choosing fetch moves the control from your app to Apple instead of removing a basic (and for many a preferred feature) like fetch altogether.

    Anyway, thank you for taking the time to respond, i appreciate it.

    I really enjoyed watching "State of the Fedora Kernel" by Justin Forbes that he held yesterday since it gave me a good understanding on how/why kernels might be held back or even pushed to stable despite negative karma etc. So for anyone new to Fedora and wondering how kernel updates are managed i really recommend this.

    today: did my talk at , I think it wasn't quite as good as at devconf.cz because I was pretty tired, but went well enough! I'll post a link to a recording when one is up somewhere. lots of attending talks (some good ones on CPE team status and rpminspect), hallway track, pub quiz...now to try and get some sleep

    pjol,

    @adamw As a non dev your talk did connect dots for me and gave me valuable insight to how Fedora QA functions. Thank you!

    I watched it on YT:

    Got FediFetcher up and running. This will hopefully put an end to the need to open remote posts on the remote server just to see all replies — an annoying problem when running a small Mastodon server.
    Very promising so far, thanks @michael!

    Hi, I´m way over my head with this and i cant get this to work via GH actions on my single user instance. Any help would be immensely appreciated🙏

    I keep getting errors ref to both URL and access token. URL is correct (hejdu.lol) I have also re-generated my access token several times, also used the GetAuth method that is mentioned in the Setup guide to get a token and no joy. Also verified i´m using the read and admin:read:accounts scopes for the token.
