I do actually like the idea of having more direct democracy, what if 20% of the city budget was allocated with a ranked choice voting system every year?

The Frida Kahlo Quick-Build Project has been unnecessarily delayed and watered down for too long. Itโ€™s time to approve this project that will increase safety for all people.

Please sign and share the petition now to get this critical project approved ASAP. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/fridakahlo

psoul,
@psoul@sfba.social avatar

@LukeBornheimer as someone who bikes to city college three times a week for classes, this will be appreciated. Currently Judson doesnโ€™t have bike lanes and makes it somewhat uncomfortable to get to and from Hearst slow street.

However, my biggest issues are:

  1. In the neighborhood north of Judson, Gennessee and Forester are narrow and at a slope which makes biking in the sharrows uncomfortable.
    Additionally, the T intersections at Forester and Gennessee have stop signs that barely stop cars. Installing raised crosswalks there and turning lanes for cyclists would be best.

Do not spend one dime at these establishments. Vacant shops are better than dead cyclists. https://missionlocal.org/2024/04/businesses-join-legal-battle-valencia-center-bike-lane/

psoul,

@suldrew the owner of Yasmin is (or was, I donโ€™t know the latest) on a hunger strike to protest this bike lane. He was not suggesting an alternative design, he just wants it gone.

My counter protest idea is to organize a banquet in the bike lane ร  la Sunday Streets:
Block the street, put tables and chairs, reroute the bikes to the car lanes and bring in some delicious food to share!
Maybe we can get some local restaurants to help us out with food and tables.

@SafeStreetRebel maybe youโ€™ll like this idea!

psoul,
@psoul@sfba.social avatar

@SafeStreetRebel I donโ€™t think I have the leadership skills or the connections in the neighbors, transit and buisness owners communities to pull this offโ€ฆ

Farrell: โ€œOpen Market Street back up to carsโ€

Whoโ€™s the livable city candidate?

Shariati? As an SFMTA engineer that would be amazing

psoul,
@psoul@sfba.social avatar

@scott @burritojustice yeahโ€ฆ Iโ€™m a little disappointed as well.
The political discourse with homelessness, crime and the war on drugs is in my opinion getting to a fear mongering state that is taking over all the political landscape.
Not only is it the pillar of the campaigns of the mayoral candidates, it is all they talk about.

Iโ€™m not saying those arenโ€™t issues we shouldnโ€™t address. To me itโ€™s very similar to how the right wing in France will bring up immigration and french identity right before the elections to get most of the media focused on that (and them) and minimize or delegitimize other issues.

So yeah, we donโ€™t talk about Breed watering down the livable city agenda, but itโ€™s because most of the attention is focused on other issues (homelessness and rightfully housing).

This man needs a therapist. Itโ€™s, on one level, kind of funny to see such an absurd reaction to a bike lane, but I donโ€™t feel great pointing and laughing; he really seems not well. https://missionlocal.org/2024/04/yasmins-owner-pledges-30-day-hunger-strike-over-valencia-bike-lane/

Mayor Breed nominated Lydia So โ€” who currently serves on the SFMTA Board of Directors โ€” for the Planning Commission. If So is appointed by the Board of Supervisors, a seat on the SFMTA Board would open up.

I wish passenger rail was a bridge a boat could slam into so it could get $60M in emergency money and and an incoming bipartisan bill to get fixed.

Why is it so easy to get money to fix car infrastructure?
