Microsoft Recall is going to make post-breach impact analysis impossible. Right now IR processes can establish a timeline of data stewardship to identify what information may have been available to an attacker based on the level of access they obtained. It's not trivial work, but IR folks can do it. Once a system with Recall is compromised, all data that has touched that system is potentially compromised too, and the ML indirection makes it near impossible to confidently identify a blast radius.

The Valencia center bike lane needs a public service announcement sign letting cyclists know they can go with the walk sign and don’t need to wait for the green. I feel like every day the group has to move past someone who is sitting there waiting at go-time https://velo.outsideonline.com/urban/urban-culture/leading-pedestrian-interval-safer-biking/

if I could make my SF neighbors understand two things about politics:

  1. there's a direct line from the defunding of social programs (SF food bank, etc) to the crime (car break-ins) you're worried about. it sucks i'm sorry if it happened to you but people are trying to survive
  2. more police & surveillance won't do much for that but WILL 100% be used to repress protest when Trump/SCOTUS make abortion, same-sex marriage, and being trans illegal

@tagesschau @DLR @dlr_next @stim3on 2 hours later, May 11 00:39-00:54, round 2. The coveres the entire sky over Bavaria, Germany. It's even visible to the naked eye when looking south! This is insanity!! 🖖😳
First image even looks like the camera Sensor of my phone got hit with radiation particles.

10s exposure at 00:45, streamers dancing rapidly

10s exposure at 00:54 looking east, the aurora covered the entire night sky over Bavaria

Im loving this shared experience with all the people posting aurora photos.

One of the rare times when I feel connected to so many people at once - we are having a shared experience together as humans.

Its fucking lovely.

I'm a Tenured College Professor. I'm Quitting. Here's Why.
by Jessica Wildfire

"Most of my professor friends can't support themselves. That includes the fancy tenured professors, even at nice schools. They have sugar mamas & sugar daddies. They're married to lawyers and bankers, or IT managers. If they're like me, they've got a secret side hustle.

Here's an irony:

My university forces everyone to disclose outside income. So if you have a second job or a side hustle, you're technically supposed to report it. You're supposed to ask them for permission. They can say no.

That's right, the same university that gave me a chocolate bar for a raise also says I can't take on a second job to support my family. They're worried it would distract me from all the free work I'm doing for them." https://www.okdoomer.io/im-a-professor-heres-why-im-walking-away-from-my-tenure/

It's a good thing nobody made any meaningful reforms the last time cops murdered a guy in cold blood for no reason and it sparked the biggest wave of civil rights protests since the 1960s that cops nearly universally responded to with a fusillade of pointless violence against unarmed people and by strongarming municipal governments entertaining even the mildest measure of civilian oversight, after which nearly all cop unions endorsed an overt racist authoritarian then in the process of implementing the most massive battery crimes in the history of the republic with the ultimate goal of ending American democracy in favor of an unelected fascist police state, so that a few years later those same cops, heroes that they are, would feel liberated to do the important work of beating and gassing kids on their own college campuses for the insidious crime of chanting slogans.
