The thing that trips me up about making hashtags accessible on social media, by capitalizing each word JustLikeThis, are words like WordPress, or ActivityPub.
I'm guessing these should be all lowercase, so that screen readers don't read these as two separate words?
I'm really starting to see the benefits of allowing spaces in hashtags.
It's kind of absurd that your options on fedi are to opt into literally all CWs and having to manually expand them all or opting into none of them ever. You should be able to have a list of words that collapse CWs automatically but otherwise have them open by default
I know that glitch already solves this via regex but it's client side. This really should be stored in your account so it works across devices and applications automatically
@eniko I dunno about this, I prefer to opt-in rather than opt-out and CW's help with that, but that's not enough for my case, sadly.
Which is why I'm using filters: I cannot trust y'all won't post stuff that will trigger my PTSD, nor that y'all will respect my boundaries about any specific topic.
I think safety for some users make it worth it that some can tolerate some minor inconvenience. What do you think?
@shippychaos in Spanish (a language in LATAM) vs Castilian (a language is Spain) car and cart have opposite meanings (carro vs coche) But only in some regions 😉
humbly remembering I’m ~50% fluent in Spanish as rewatching something always reveals things I missed the first time (first several times)
I definitely thought Marta was saying her husband hated her for their lack of bedroom activities but she was actually saying “I’m worried about disappointing you [(Fina) in bed]”
My misinterpretation of “vais a tener que veros a siempre escondidas” was funny at least
tbh Spain can keep its vosotros to itself, castellano is hard enough
@shippychaos@minka this would be the same as pitting American vs British English.
If 'vosotros' sounds cool, good on you, most Spanish speakers only read/hear it in the religious stuff.
BTW, there's no LATAM Spanish either... But if I get to the nitty gritty of it, we'll have to talk about colonialism and some people get weirdly political or nationalist about it.

Regardless of your beliefs about Twitter/X... I've seen (and now am a victim of) content farming accounts that just repost other people's TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube video clips, then other accounts with millions of followers (and billions of monetized tweet views) repost the content and earn money off the original content.
The hot dog radio video clip is being posted and reposted on Twitter—I called someone out on it, then got blocked by that user :P
@geerlingguy the thing I fail to see is why would anyone want to remain there?
What is there that could be of any benefit to anyone? The extremists? The fake accounts? The negligence in content moderation? The intolerance?
@WhyNotZoidberg@nikki the curious thing? They can switch to another instance... But noooooo, they have to complain on the ones that don't want to be a part of whatever Threads does.
@ernie what was disappointing for me about own/next cloud was that there's required settings in the database that make it impossible to self-host in cheapy shared hosting solutions.
"Ah but there's an alternative, you just need to"... No. I tried it and it's also not supported.
If an Apple device has a nonsensical limitation, the reason said limitation exists is simple: Apple intentionally designed it from the ground up to have that limitation.
