So in Alberta, we're only allowed one #COVID booster per year now. This creates a dilemma: since I'm finally eligible for a booster, do I jump on the first options to market or shop around for a specific option that might be more effective.
@dragonfrog I had the exact same experience when they did consultation for neighborhood renewal in my area. I took pictures of the dot voting boards etc, and when they sent out the "results", the top asks/wishes/priorities from the community were just like.... not reflected.
It was also notable that the priorities were basically the same as in a much richer area that had just gone through this.... and the outcome in terms of infra was VERY different.
@likelyjanlukas Huh! I'd have thought there'd have been SOME record - seems like a big change!!
Then again, as we all know, "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers" was a thing that was said, so maybe... nobody thought that this was at all important at the time?
@arratoon ugh. for us it's the stove, a cheap alarm clock, a cheap analog Ikea wall clock, the coffee maker,...
this is partially due to the fact that I am not a big fan of connected/IoT/"everything talks to google and amazon all the time" devices, which obv would update by themselves 😂
honestly I'm basically at the point where I might leave a bunch of those the way they are, just like your cycling computer. they'll come back around to being correct eventually 🤷
So, I took a bike in for maintenance, and they said the handlebar tape needed replacing. (Fine.) It had been pink to match the pink lettering on the bike.
However, when I came to pick up the bike they had put a boring gray tape on it instead. Was I unreasonable to ask that they exchange it for pink as it was before? Does anyone else care about the color of their handlebar tape? #cycling
When I first started hearing about this, I asked #ChatGPT about new publications in this very tiny academic field I used to work in, and sure enough...
The "authors" it mentioned truly did/do work in that field, but the collaborations between them, as well as the actual "papers", were all complete bogus.
My city (#CityOfEdmonton) turned a street in our neighbourhood into a one-way street with a contraflow bike lane three years ago. It's at least seven blocks long. To this day, there are no One Way signs. Not a single one.
Every time I am out for a walk/run/bike ride, someone drives up it in the wrong direction. Not an exaggeration -- every. single. time.
I have called 311 to ask about this three times. Jesus Mary HOW is this so hard.
last time the agent said she had entered it into the system as a sign request, and also put in a "callback request".
welp that was... several months ago. I thought this time there'd at least be SOME action since the time I called about it previously, the agent didn't even understand the problem and told me "the City of #Edmonton does not use One Way signs" (!!!??? 🤔 🤔 lol what??) and asked me to specify ONE intersection where the sign was required 🤦♂️
@veith I had to do a double take when it first popped up on my phone!
I'm a bit conflicted honestly, I get they were trying to have a bit of fun with it, but also uh it is just a hockey game, and also maybe something like this should not feature the word "Alert" 😬
Anybody else having issues uploading images? In particular on yeg.bike? I've been trying on Tusky and web on desktop all morning - web gives me a 500 error, and Tusky says "the upload failed"
