I went back blogging with WordPress in my own VPS server last year. Using a plugin called "ActivityPub", you can distribute your WordPress blog posts to the Fediverse such as Mastodon.

I totally agree with you. However, there is another problem. The region where the earthquakes hit is one of the most conservative constituencies in Japan. A strong hold of LDP, the autocratic ruling party. The current governor of Ishikawa Pref. is a former professional wrestler and a right-hand-man of the most corrupt politician in LDP.

A Japanese Mastodon user who saw my post in Japanese sent me a link to Central Community Chest of Japan, which accepts donations for the victims of Noto Quake. I believe the org. is legit.
