Those outside of the Europe can vote now for the participants of the #Eurovision second semifinal.

#Israel’s entry by Eden Golan was denied twice because the lyrics were deemed too political, referencing the October 7th Supernova dance massacre committed by Hamas. Finally a version was accepted. I think the song stands well on its own but if you know the background it’s much more meaningful. I think the choreography of the dancers (some of which is included in the live stage version) is powerful.

Hamas using hospitals turns those hospitals into legitimate military targets. That isn’t the fault of the patients, or (hopefully!) the doctors and staff, but it’s also not the fault of Israel.

Hamas murdering and kidnapping on October 7th was not the fault of Israel despite the misguided ‘colonial’ discourse about the country. Like, I know you want to blame Israel for everything but maybe take a step back?

Calling for a ceasefire is easy. There have been a lot of ceasefires. There was a ceasefire on October 6th.

Israel is legally within its rights to take out the threat to its people and ‘restore’ a sense of security. If you find that difficult to understand, imagine what the government of your country would do after a similar attack and try not to apply a double standard to Israel.

A final note is that Hezbollah in the north (backed by Iran) continues to attack and wants to wipe out Israel and its citizens, and with Hamas (backed by Iran) still firing missiles and pledging to do October 7th again and again, something like 100,000 Israelis are internally displaced. The Houthis in Yemen (also backed by Iran) are firing missiles. Their flag of course has their slogan, “God Is Great, Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse on the Jews, Victory to Islam."

Nobody wants civilian casualties and the number in Gaza is absolutely awful. Of course we don’t know how many of those casualties are militants and the only pictures we get tend to be provided by Hamas/Hamas-related agencies.

The US’s longest running Jewish newspaper, The Forward, has removed its paywall and is now free to read. They’re encouraging people to join as members for extra benefits. It’s generally good journalism.
