never forget: we didn’t ask for robot cars. when polled US majorities have always wanted action on climate, good public transit & safe streets. but our leaders act without our consent.

last year, 78% polled wanted increased investment in US passenger rail, a number that went to 80% among women and 82% in cities and 91% among Black people. this year, 76% polled in the US said they are afraid of self-driving cars & just 9% say they trust them and that number is declining year to year

How do we seek the forgiveness of the dead?

Because I think this is the other component I've been searching for to balance out this elemental idea of tashlikh:

water - traditional tashlikh
(focused on mitzvot bein adam la-makom)

fire - focused especially on acknowledging interpersonal grievances to heal them
(built on mitzvot bein adam la-havero)

earth - letting go of things we needlessly blame ourselves for and for things we can do better next time
(relates to mitzvot bein adam l’atzmo)

air - letting go of the survivor's guilt many of us have for outliving... a lot of people and/or never knowing certain loved ones well-enough
(the counterpart of yizkor, but mindful remembering and not praying)

@passenger @kkarhan @breadandcircuses Morality and legality are not the same things. Sometimes they intersect, but just as often they're in opposition. To choose the right path sometimes means to choose the path of breaking rules, violating laws, and going against society.
