@siracusa You didn’t waffle about a possible 13” iPad for your TV watching? It got considerably lighter and the screen is so much less crammed for video. I’ve been going back and forth for days now. The only thing stopping me is finer table reading of news on the web and the hunungus price increase. @atpfm

@matt don’t forget that it featured the completed product. Not many people internally would have been in the know about this ad. Once it came out, internal reaction could have played a part as well.

I might be wrong but I can’t recall a single time the word “star” is uttered or a star features in any plot point of Star Wars. The closest I can think of is shots of the twin suns of Tatooine.

Edit: I was wrong. Death Star, and Starkiller Base are two obvious examples.

Nintendo, disappointing kids and their parents since they started dabbling in internet connected consoles.

The situation when you have two switches and downloaded games is maddening. 20 min of Googling and setup, followed by slower than slow downloads. 😔

It’s so sad that I can no longer share my photos online without also involuntarily training future models.

I’ve been playing with to “poison” my images against training, but the tool introduces quite a lot of distortion and artifacts that grate on my nerves. I guess this is the immediate future for us, until someone discovers a way to poison images in a way that is less visible to humans.

Here’s an example. The first image is an original, and the second is one that has been poisoned by Nightshade.

The third is one poisoned to a “low” degree. It’s OKAY—it’s not great, but it’s not as bad. I wonder how effective a “low” setting is versus a “default” setting.

Another game completed this year! Horizon: Forbidden West is an unusual case for me of a game that I don't particularly connect with narratively or on a gameplay level, but that it so striking gorgeous (technically and artistically) that I played the whole thing just to see the amazing things it would show me.

Definitely preferred the first game, but I don't know if it's changed since then or I have.

It's a visual treat no matter what, though, and that's worth something.

@matt companies wouldn’t steal passwords, but I bet you they would monetize the hell out of the transactions you were doing in a wallet app because it would not be feasible for a small company to negotiate a transacting fee, and nobody would pay for such an app. Other developers would be banks, and they fuck you for no other reason than that they can.

@matt I closed my PayPal account after a few concerning direction changes (like charging account if not used for a while).

Fully private (although this has been somewhat debunked) like not sharing your payment information with merchants. Meaning it’s harder to identify me for ad tracking.

The whole mess of ad tracking on the web has made me very cynical of any company on the web. Maybe that’s clouding my judgement.

Well, I guess this resolves the question some had about whether actual emulators could be released on iOS per the new rules.

The team responsible for the FaceTime app on tvOS needs a VERY stern talking-to. Just for starters, take a look at the menu that appears when trying to start a call with a person.

Now imagine if it actually showed the emails or phone numbers for any of these choices. But no, you just have to guess! It’s on a giant TV screen! There’s plenty of room! It is MADDENING!
