testing, to Germany

in germany, currently many groups keep pushing to rigorously apply the ihra definition of antisemitism in the field of state cultural funding > this has already resulted in many cancelled exhibitions, cancelled funding etc

recently, german conservative politician michael blume joined the debate, declaring the following:

translation:> i am of the opinion that there is progress & that it is therefore a good thing that freedom of speech is narrowed; we are no longer allowed to do many things today that we were allowed to do 100 years ago: people were allowed to discuss whether women had the right to vote, whether people of different skin colors had different value, whether the protocols of the elders of zion were real, & i'm very happy that this is slowly coming to an end, that tax money is being spent to promote racism, sexism or antisemitism - i consider this a significant step forward

himself being a member of the german conservative party cdu, michael blume sticks to double standards: no other german party has been continuously supporting antisemitic key players, such as the hungarian orbán regime or the gop rightwingers in amurkah > the money spent by the german conservatives to further these cooperations on international level is tax payers' money > but when it comes to silencing criticism, german conservatives call for cutting of public funding

testing, to workersrights

yesterday, i took ownership of the "workers' rights" magazine on kbin.social > you can find it here:
kbin.social/m/workersrights

since i consider workers' rights to be of international importance, i try to get away from an english-only, anglocentric perspective > attempting to counter english dominance on the fediverse, i added the hashtag "hartal" ("strike" in many south asian and southeast asian languages), aiming at a better discoverability of non-english posts at least on this specific subject

if you send me the term for "strike" in a language other than english, i will add the term as a hashtag to the kbin magazine mentioned above > contributions from the global south are especially welcome!

please boost ❤️

testing,

the microblogging section of the kbin magazine can be found here:

testing,

@wtsparrow added! thank you!

testing,

added two hashtags to the "workers' rights" magazine: and

testing,

@tynstar thank you! added the term to the magazine!

testing, to fediverse

differences between threadiverse folks and microbloggers on the fedi:

  • microbloggers boost a lot, but that's not big on the threadiverse
  • microbloggers tend not to like anything - neither the posts they keep boosting nor the replies to their own posts - whereas this is absolutely common on the threadiverse
  • microbloggers tend not to reply - whereas on the threadiverse, this keeps happening all the time

i totally get why folks from lemmy find mastodon in particular strange

testing,

@Kierunkowy74
you are pointing to the blind spot: fedi microbloggers claim that they love to interact, whereas i see more interaction happening in the threadiverse

anyone writing about genocide should read this first:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dzungar_genocide

genocides are always committed by the most advanced, most "civilized" powers, often helped by accomplices

Thinking of pulling down my blog. There are maybe two links I still refer people to:

testing,

@yingtai write.as has a beautiful ui, indeed ...

but there are some things which you probably would be missing if you start out with > have a look at their own blog > no comments section ...

but just some days ago, news spread that a new fork is in the works which, among other things, will support visible comments

testing,

@yingtai you are right: wp plugins are dealbreakers atm

    to be fair, they had planned that transnational railway since ... ummm ... 1994, only to sign some agreement in 2001 under german guidance > the rail baltica was supposed to be finished by 2015 > many experts called this timetable unrealistic > with especially lithuania lagging behind, the year 2030 is still very optimistic!

    look at the railways in the baltic states - they are either non-existent or very old ... 2030 is just a new number for the media, nothing more ...

    the original rail baltica project is truly impressive though: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rail_Baltica
