A turning point. Mastodon is a far better source of information on the Russian situation now than Twitter. Follow the Russia and Ukraine hashtags.

Just subscribed to my first kbin 'magazine' (equivalent to a subreddit) from my Mastodon account -- as easy as copying the link to said magazine, pasting it into the search/explore section, then clicking to follow like it's any other fediverse account

This is the link I copy/pasted 👇

I'm legitimately curious what people would say if I posted a photo of myself maskless in a dentist's chair. Yes, we still go to the dentist. Thankfully, they've been great about mitigation measures. But now not all patients mask (I do in the waiting area). I am not apologetic about that situation, and I would be honest and show it rather than pretend I don't make that calculated decision.

"Cold and flu season" actually means "back to school" not "winter"

“On May 22, 2023… Zhong Nanshan… an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that based on the prediction of the SEIRS model, the second wave of the new coronavirus epidemic in the country in 2023 will mainly be Infected by the Omicron XBB series strains, the peak will occur in mid-April, and there will be a peak at the end of May, with the number of infections reaching about 40M/week, and the peak will occur at the end of June, reaching 65M/week...”

“‘(Epidemic prevention) cannot be done once and for all, because it (new crown virus) becomes too fast… the cause of death from Omicron infection is not simply death from severe pneumonia, and the current death is often caused by the new coronavirus . These diseases, such as heart disease, neurological disease, kidney disease and so on, aggravate the death. For people with underlying diseases, prevention of infection is extremely important.’”

In the midst of the largest public health crisis in a century, more than 82 per cent of Albertans chose to be vaccinated against COVID. Not because they were charmed or corrupted by a genocidal dictator. They made a free and rational decision, based on science, to protect themselves, their families and their communities. It was an act of love. To compare them to Nazis, seduced by Hitler’s hate, is disrespectful to both the victims of the Holocaust and to the compassion and courage of Albertans.

@jfmezei SARS-CoV-2 is anything but endemic; it's a multi-country epidemic that's neither limited nor predictable

“The COVID-deniers and anti-maskers talk a lot about “freedom,” but their concerns about the freedom to do as one chooses to do does not extend to people who choose to wear masks. Mask wearers have been physically attacked and insulted, and now that attitude is morphing into a broader criminalization of mask-wearing.

And one can’t miss the racial aspect of this criminalization.”
