Have any government folks enabled fedi sharing on #threads? Or official news org accounts? Looking at journalists and pundits etc, it feels completely random (and strangely limited). I see no pattern.
primarily I want to share one id/account. we don't need separate private messaging here. when people try to do that, it should be a matrix conversation. etc.
I didn't think the death of the president of #Iran was that big of a deal since he didn't have much power, especially compared to the prime minister and supreme leader. but this guy was the assumed next supreme leader, the most powerful person in that country. the current supreme leader had been president previously. ugh.
I guess it's good that #Assange won this case against extradition to the #uspol but I think what's happening to him currently might be worse than the alternative. He's in a state of suspended animation, never knowing what his future will be or when the next steps will be taken. Psychological torture in addition to the physical condition he is kept in. Actually being in the US would put pressure on the government to prove what's so much worse about what he did compared to other journalists. IDK.

@wjmaggos The German Public Broadcasting Services do have their own Mastodon Server, but they basically just use it as an overpowered RSS feed. No interaction or whatsoever.
I assume it's cause we're not a big enough audience yet but this kinda independence is pretty basic to their missions. they should be leading the revolution. and could if they did it together.
Conspiracy media is journalism run backwards. The narratives come first, and the news is chosen to reinforce it. It's always spun in one direction. Instead of reporting on a wide variety of issues and giving you multiple guesses from different angles re why it might matter. In the latter, you have to do the work of reporting. And understand a subject or the world well enough to make sense of new events. With the former, you find people who agree with you and entertain them. #LiberalValues

Because a blocked account cannot see posts by the user that blocked them, they are also not able to reply. So one user can reply to another and then block them, making it look to everyone else like the blocked account had no comeback etc. That it was such a good response, the blocked gave up and walked away. When they were actually not given a chance. Consider that when you're reading conversations here. #BadFaith

People have email addresses like me@mydomain.com while also having a website at mydomain.com. What's preventing folks from also having a #SocialWeb account using me@mydomain.com? Would it just be confusing? Then there's all the different fedi services.
