The panel-mounted jack for the foot pedal slipped into the interior of my sewing machine, and the only way to access it was to open up the machine. I'll be stunned if (a) I can get it back together with all the parts & screws in the right places and (b) it works properly afterwards. 🤞🤞🤞

Super duper happy this morning to receive a GORGEOUS flower clock from @maketvee. It is hard to describe how stunning it is in person, and it comes with interchangeable faceplates, and can run in clock mode (right) or pattern mode.

the more I use rekordbox, the more I wish I could drop some cash on a new DJ controller and move to Serato instead.

you can't sort by artist and track title together. if you sort by artist, the tracks are secondarily sorted by the internal content ID of the track.

the whole hot cue vs. memory cue thing where both cue types are basically the same but different functionality is arbitrarily applied to just one one and not the other is baffling and endlessly tedious to work around.

realised I can use 3D to help visualise some of the issues with linear PWM of LEDs.

luckily threejs supports instanced meshes, which lets me render 32768 spheres with translucent PBR textures at 55-60fps, at 2160p, in a web browser.

my plan is to display an interactive volumetric representation of the effects of colour-space quantisation.

protip: if you see an article saying something like "people who [drink/eat/do] [something] live longer on average!", find the link to the actual paper, open it up, search for the words "economic", "wealth", and "income". if you get zero hits, close the paper and stop reading the article. soooooo many healthy living studies are just measures of wealth.

TI LP5036 is an interesting looking IC for multi-channel constant-current LED dimming.

I2C with 4 addresses. it's got 36 constant-current PWM channels capable of sinking 35mA per channel, internally it's using 9-bit PWM at 29kHz + 3-bit temporal dither.

takes an 8-bit brightness value per 3 channels, plus an 8-bit colour value per channel, which it maps to that 12-bit space. it also supports "logarithmic mode" brightness which has a weird EOTF but is better than linear control.

The back of the Pi 5 USB Type C power supply. It has a getting started link for some reason and lists features as: 100 to 240 volts, 60 hertz input and USB Power Delivery output providing 5.1 volts at 5 amps DC. It can also provide 9 volts at 3 amps, 12 volts at 2.25 amps and 25 volts at 1.8 amps. It supports a total of 27 watts maximum output power. A “white” label on the back suggests there might be a black colour variant available in the future.
