Video from my last live set at Iklectik online now: https://youtu.be/1EfWWZHavuI?si=2QSbyFI_MK6x02xE
I included various new devices and builds in the performance, some of which worked better than others.
worm gear long-loop percussion
new modular synth sound sources (slight bugs)
magnetic tape record (minor failure)
multiple webcams for projection and documentation
strobe light kick drum trigger via rotator cuff (mostly ineffective)
Enjoyed the performance though, great atmosphere in a packed room - nice you can see folks dancing in the video. A great send off to Iklectik's Waterloo space (this was the penultimate event there).
Ok just bought myself the M1 #MacBookAir base model from #Machines on #Shopee for RM2844 (~598 USD) before shipping after some heavy discounts.
Just realised that I could've had it slightly cheaper though for RM2750 (~578 USD) after discounts, before shipping if I had bought from #iTworld (another #Apple AAR) instead, also on Shopee.
If you've been needing a ~cheap laptop that does the job, now's the time.
“…a deep truth about AI: that the story of AI being managed by a ‘human in the loop’ is a fantasy, because humans are neurologically incapable of maintaining vigilance in watching for rare occurrences.”
I made this image for an article I’m writing called “Dominion Over the Machines” about how the SAG-AFTRA AI precedents (if ratified) may move things forward not just for actors, but for every human that may face non-humans doing their work.
Il s'agit de " a brief description of the foundational principles and purposes of archival description".

So. I have a funny anecdote relating to #virtual#machines and #FreeBSD for you today. I'm doing nothing serious with FreeBSD, just playing in a virtual machine, and having fun with the OS. I just happen to check the FreeBSD site, and noted that release builds for 14.0 had begun on the 10th of November, and the release announcement was to go out on the 14th (yesterday for me in Western Australia). On a whim, I decided to try `sudo freebsd-update -r 14.0-RELEASE upgrade'... and it worked! Ooops, I may have just jumped the gun a little, but everything upgraded without issue. I just find this rather amusing that you can update before the release announcement. #OpenSource#Free#software
Machines taking our jobs is nothing new.... I'm watching The Twilight Zone episode "The Brain Center at Whipple's" from 1964 - which people are replaced with computers, but the owner of the company is soon replaced by a robot -
Machines are supposed to be used to make the majority of people's lives better, not replace them!
And, #BobIger needs to stop being #OutOfTouch with real life. Maybe us #woke folks should start boycotting #Disney until they pay their #actors a #livingwage , regardless of how many #gay folks they stick in their movies.
If you're worried about #LLM-based #AI, you're focusing on the wrong thing and may lack imagination.
This, and related developments (I can't view them as advancements, knowing how this all will end) are what's going to end the human race as we've known ourselves.
Much good can be derived from technologies like this, but we—being as we are—will ultimately go much to far.
I don't think we're prepared for our instant evolution (and, separately, eventual mechanization).
