yyyesss,

I think if a bald eagle showed up at an oval office window and started tapping Morse code on the glass it would get attention if not headlines.

yyyesss,

I disagree that DS9 is better. TNG generally maintained an episodic approach while DS9 switched into long seasonal arcs. I think it’s reasonable to say it’s preferencial. That said, Voyager gets better after they bring on Seven of Nine.

And if you’re going to have access to Star Trek, check out Lower Decks. It’s huge fun. Understanding the wall-to-wall references is a bonus but not required.

yyyesss,

Community (on peacock). It’s streets ahead.

yyyesss,

Same for me. I hated the first two episodes but by episode three I was ready for more. Not sure when it became my favorite show but it eventually happened.

yyyesss,

i’ve had the pickle flavored soda. it’s exactly like you expect and nothing more. sweet, fizzy pickle juice

4ish years ago when I bought a house I was convinced not to get a house inspection, would it be crazy to get one now just to make sure it's all good?

Was 25 and super nervous, so when the realtor was like “oh yeah they just check for basic stuff, but I looked around and it looks great” I was like “Oh okay, this is so astronomically expensive every penny saved is good…”...

yyyesss,

that realtor did you dirty. “I looked around and it was fine”?? please don’t use them ever again. that’s sketchy and dishonest. no reputable realtor without something to hide would say that. I would report them to the state realtor board.

get the inspection. and when it’s time to sell, get another one.

boomer humor. wife bad, amirite?

yyyesss,

yes, very much. i’ve been telling my partner it may be time to give up on Lemmy.

the ones that kill me are the long-form posts that seem to be making one point then pivot in the middle and get confusing. they’re just muddying the waters but people who don’t read past the first sentence or two upvote so they gain traction.

yyyesss,

why is the text cut off? it’s awful and frustrating

yyyesss,

I will down vote every one of these that has the text cropped off.

What linguistic constructions do you hate that no one else seems to mind?

It bugs me when people say “the thing is is that” (if you listen for it, you’ll start hearing it… or maybe that’s something that people only do in my area.) (“What the thing is is that…” is fine. But “the thing is is that…” bugs me.)...

yyyesss,

“In terms of” when it relates to nothing in the discussion. It’s just a fluffy pile of nothing to either make you sound smarter, make your idea sound smarter, or fill in space like “um”.

“In terms of the design, we’re choosing blue.”

yyyesss,

what the fuck. i’m sorry this happened to you

yyyesss,

that kills people, carl!

ohh well I did not know that

yyyesss,

the closest a third party has ever gone was Ross Perot. 21% of the popular vote - 0 electoral college votes.

it is not possible until something else changes.

yyyesss,

ha, you beautifully illustrated their point.

i’m not saying you’re wrong, it’s just funny how on-the-nose you got it.

yyyesss,

Now that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time.
