Brkdncr,

“Tweet” is now up for grabs. All similar platforms should call them tweets.

Brkdncr,

Why keep such an accomplishment secret?

Brkdncr,

Boomers living to 150 is going to be awful.

Brkdncr,

i think there's a state-level issue going on too. the gov would need to appoint someone and i don't know that's something he wants to do right now.

How to know how many concurrent active torrents are too many?

Thanks to this Lemmy I entered the magic world of private trackers, and now the list of torrents I keep seeding is growing by the day. How can I detect when the number of torrents is detrimental to the functioning of the network? What is a reasonable ball park estimate of active (even if “dormant”) torrents?

Brkdncr,

It depends, but the weakest link will likely be whatever is performing NAT.

Brkdncr,

An hvac company that is able to adopt AI for 1st call processing and scheduling will be able to eliminate a number of jobs and remain open 24x7. They will undercut their local competitors, and the hvac techs will find themselves out of a job or working for their competitor soon.

Small companies won’t be able to compete.

I’m all for this but we need to offset these immense productivity gains with economic safety nets. I don’t know how the next 100 year will look if we don’t adopt UBI, universal healthcare, and some amount of subsidized housing.

Brkdncr,

My 1999 Plymouth RS was that same color. Trans separated from the engine on its own.

The day before I moved across the US it was broken into along with nearly every other car in my parking lot. Thieves pulled up in a box van and silently opened up various vehicles using known weaknesses, without breaking any glass. The DSM apparently could have its door handle popped off to get the door to open somehow.

Brkdncr,

Dudes eyes started looking in two directions from the video I saw. Micro stroke.

Brkdncr,

Does lemmy use google or Facebook as an idp yet? That makes things pretty easy on kbin.social.

Brkdncr,

Starlink and soon Amazon. I get 100/10 regularly on starlink. It’s not great but it’s quite usable.

Brkdncr,

Looks a lot like that old ncsoft game exteel.

Brkdncr,

Aircooled engines have tolerances so wide you could fit an epa regulator through them.

Brkdncr,

Hmm, starting to smell like a general strike…

Odyssey Espresso Argos (lemmy.world)

Got my Argos today and it looks and feels so much better than I expected. It’s super tiny, beautifully designed and setting it up was very easy. Filled it up with 40GH/40KH water and it got to temp within 5 mins or so. Flushed for a bit to clean out the water path. Pulled a shot with some washed Ethiopian beans 18:40 and it...

Brkdncr,

Focus on your individual hobbies that have the possibility of being social. Eventually one of you will meet a friend and decide to hang out outside of the hobby.

Brkdncr,

These are anywhere from a few hours behind to weeks behind.

Brkdncr,

No need to rest if it’s been slow cooked.

Brkdncr,

While I agree, the temps in the desert right now aren’t far off from normal. Humans simply can’t handle that amount of heat. People die every year around this time, because they are ignorant.

Brkdncr,

The school may have edu licenses for a macOS hypervisor product that makes it cheap or free. The teachers may recommend something. Ask the school first.

Fixing my drain required breaking laws, pissing off IRC users, breaking tools…

It was taking around 24 hours to drain just ~1—3 liters of water in my kitchen sink. Probably comparable to IV drip speeds. After a huge effort and expense, I finally fixed it without demolishing the kitchen – which would have been my next and final move¹. Sequence of events:...

Brkdncr,

did you snake it from the cleanout? the pipe outside that's designed to "clean out" clogs from the clog side?

Brkdncr,

MS is doing the same to Outlook users too at some point. Its a much better app. Windows mail/calendar were an oddity. Remember outlook express?

Looking for suggestions for a place to move in the US as a remote employee

So the work I do is 100% remote now. I moved to Southern California because of an industry that has in part moved to remote work. My only requirements are a temperate climate, nature access and hopefully a blue-ish state. Is there a place out there that makes sense financially? I’m hoping to buy a house less then 500k. I...

Brkdncr,

I’m eyeing big bear,ca.

Brkdncr,

Well yes they do get some cold weather. I’m hoping to have a place in the joshua tree area too and just migrate with the weather.

Colorado, northern Arizona, and many other states have better CoL than Ca though.

Brkdncr,

With how government vehicles are driven, a throttle map could do a lot to improve efficiencies.
