On Kbin, browsing through the all tab, great majority of posts are related to US or some topic in the US.

What are your thoughts on reddit mods? How are Lemmy mods like compared to them?

As a person who just left reddit due to being tired of reddit mods’ power tripping, I asked folks here what are their reasons behind migrating here from other forums (most likely reddit too). It seems like none of the folks who answered had complaints on reddit mods. Do folks here not feel the same about reddit mods as I do?...

Admins are a problem? Join a new instance and defederate from the problem instance.

No instance wants to defederate from lemmy.ml, unfortunately.

I was called a loser twice on a lemmy.ml post, by a lemmygrad.ml user, after I pointed out I suffer from mental disorders to justify my comments or my behaviour, and the mod (worldnews, not politics) didn't do anything about it. So fuck .ml and fuck tankies/fascists, including developers.

Crazy idea, but what happens if you record audio and video with different ffmpeg processes?

I also tried that with the -map parameter, if that's what you mean. Same outcome.

Also, you mentioned this works better with other software — any idea if those settings are drastically different than your ffmpeg settings?

SimpleScreenRecorder is very basic, but it works well, except for some random dropped frames here and there. No big deal, but sometimes it's noticeable enough for me to feel uneasy. 1920x1080, 60 fps, PulseAudio, H.264 video codec, ultrafast preset (skipping frames) and vorbis audio codec at 128 kbps. Just that.

No, what I meant was to try recording video with ffmpeg, then open another terminal and record audio with ffmpeg. Does the video look ok when recorded like this?

Well, surprisingly, it works. Video runs smoothly, and I can merge the separate audio file to it witk Kdenlive. So, I guess the problem is solved. But I don't understand why it works this way and not with a single command in one terminal.

Depending exclusively on the codecs I use, htop shows a CPU usage of 90-100% or 10-20%. So, I use those that don't require a huge CPU usage. Memory and Swap are not affected, as far as I know. But despite those circumstances, the outcome is the same. Recording with no sound = smoothness, 60 fps, recording with sound = choppiness, 10 fp5s.

Something I also noticed is that it also happens before I open Doom 2, so it doesn't matter whether I'm playing or not. Even with just the terminal and the file manager open.

Why is defederation an option when Limit/Mute exist?

In short i just jumped into the whole Mastodon blocking drama and am somewhat disappointed to see it as childish as reddit’s power mod drama. Accelerated by the fact that a Limit/Mute option exist just fine, i wonder why Block/Defederation is an option at all. It only moves power from the user to admins without anything in...

Reddit made my anxiety flare, I was too addicted to it, and it was way too toxic.

Lemmy can do/be that too, thanks to tankies and shitty moderators, and toxic leftover users from Reddit who bring their toxicity here.

This will never be more than a below average Reddit clone.

The code of Lemmy/Kbin/Mbin can be improved, even by anyone. Can the code of Reddit be improved by anyone?

We are better off trying to change sites like Twitter and Reddit from within.

OK, then tell us how we can run for a CEO position of Twitter or Reddit, so we can change them from within. Otherwise, no, we can't.

What sort of post or comment gets you downvoted the most? Especially if you don’t think it’s bad behavior in the first place, or don’t care.
