I think I can get behind a few more days of this if it sears into any other rich, incompetent asshole’s brain out there a fear that their legacy will be as a laughingstock, not a genius engineering disruptor, if they ignore safety regulations.

Mid-30s web designer equally versed in design and frontend development, quiet in conversation but loud in spirit and fashion choices. Hobbies are whatever I need and whatever I can get my hands on - today it’s woodworking and construction due to a burst pipe, last year it was cooking and zero waste living plus grad school, with dashes of IndieWeb, gardening, hydroponics, and plenty of internet in between. I don’t work too many hours in the traditional sense, but I do keep myself constantly busy - full time job, side gig, fixing all the things. I am often asked if I sleep. The answer is yes! I love naps, I usually take at least one a day.

tldr: neon chaotic hobby napper here, nice to meet you.

I have a hobby of trying out new hobbies till I’ve accumulated a bunch of stuff, then losing interest and doing new hobbies!

ah, my people

kbin PWA through Safari on an iPad Pro here. If anyone here is building an app on iOS, please don’t do that thing where you only do vertical layout - it drives me batty!

So I noticed there was a mention of accessibility certifications in here - as a side topic, does anyone know of a trustworthy / reliable certification I could look into getting? I know about the WCAG guidelines and some basics, but I would love to get some more formalized training so that I know I’m doing the best possible job when designing or writing code, and can pass that knowledge on to others in my team.

Exactly what I was looking for - thank you!!!

It is! Magazines are a feature in kbin, and Lemmy calls this sort of thing a Community. You’re seeing the kbin terminology here because this thread started on kbin.social. If you pay attention to URLs, that’s also why it’s /c/subredditname on Lemmy and /m/subredditname on kbin.

The other major difference with kbin magazines is that you can configure them to pick up content from Mastodon using a hashtag, and it will show it in threaded format in a separate area of the magazine that’s easy to get to. It’s great for news, giving people an outlet for self-promotion without cluttering discussion, or helping get a magazine started if the topic is popular.

Didn’t know I could be more upset about this argument but this rule really takes the cake sandwich. Though for this specific instance, I agree it’s a calzone.

Magic blanket but mug is a very close second. I have everything about me solved except for temperature regulation issues. Plus I could be always snuggly!

I’m trying to subscribe to gardening@thegarden.land and can’t seem to get it to show in search results, so it’s not just you.

Just gave that a try and no luck, but I appreciate the suggestion! I think Ernest mentioned that he’d set up the bones for federation before heading to bed, so my guess is just that this is something that will be coming soon but maybe doesn’t work quite yet. No big, I’ll just set a reminder to check in a week or two 😁

Yeah, I’m really tired of reading this line in every news article about Twitter I read. They should have quietly disabled that auto reply months ago so the line would become “Twitter did not respond for comment” like every other company with bad press. That’s going to look terrible to a judge.

Bidding wars in houses suck, but they make some sense, since it’s an asset you own that could appreciate, and also that you can sell later to recoup costs. It’s also one upfront lump sum. But good god there need to be protections on rentals. Buying a house is somewhat of a luxury. Having a place to live is not, especially with jobs forcing people back into the office in high cost of living cities. At minimum, if bidding wars are going to continue, they can’t be per month. But honestly, if you’re a landlord, it’s your job to set a price in line with the market and review applications for good tenants. Allowing bids over asking is just greedy and lazy.

At some point, we need to start seeing the choice to be a landlord for what it is - public service. People need homes, you provide them. If you can’t do that in a fair and equitable way, it’s not the right choice for you, same as you wouldn’t go into teaching for the money. I’d like to see some reasonable guardrails put up for the rental market to help get there.

I PASSED MY COURSE! Time to graduate!

I was sooo worried I wasn't going to make it with my rushed final essay but I did it with a 75% mark! Maybe my course staff are just forgiving? I read the feedback and there were a lot of good points where I could have changed or expanded upon things...It doesn't matter now because I'm graduating in a month. IT'S HAPPENING! I...

Congratulations!!! What are you studying, and do you have anything planned to celebrate? 😁

MrsEaves,

That’s awesome! I did studio art and ended up being a web designer. 😁 My celebrations are usually things like a super cozy night playing games, making a really special tea, or going for a hike in a neat place, so I get not having social plans lol.

Webmentions! I’m trying to get this working on my site as well. When you do it right, you can even reply back directly from your own site. It’s pretty wild.

Ooooh, I hadn’t thought about a tray table. That’s a great idea - I read with my bunnies, and as sweet as they are and as much as I love the vibe with them around, they will nibble my cards if I’m not careful. I’ll have to try the meditation too - I’ve been feeling like my readings could use some new energy, so that would be a great way to get my mind thinking in a different way!

Ahhh, welcome danymason! It’s great to meet you. 😁

The first thing I would say to myself is if the Rider-Waite deck isn’t working for you, it’s okay to start elsewhere - that kept me from learning and really getting into it for years. So you’re already off to a great start by getting a deck that you are interested in! If it doesn’t work out for some reason, try to identify why and see if you can find or try a different deck. Personally, I need a lot of detail in my deck art - the minimalist style is beautiful, but I don’t have enough visual cues to help me remember the meanings and read intuitively.

The second thing I would say to myself is to read for me and my own decisions, not to cope with the decisions of others that are out of my control. Unfortunately, my start with tarot was part of coping with the uncertainty of a painful romantic situation. In the end, it turned out fine, but it was better to talk directly to the people involved, and where I was guessing or using tarot, that was a sign I wasn’t getting the communication I needed. It sounds like you’re in a good place, but I saw a lot of people on Reddit justify some really questionable sounding relationship dynamics using tarot, and that’s definitely something to watch for and be aware of.

Third - reading about each card is great, this is the way I do it too! What I do is I pull each card, and think of how it relates to my life and the gut feeling it gives me. Sometimes I know the general meaning and it clicks right away, and sometimes I need to look it up. Usually, a story kind of jumps out at me that connects the themes, and changes what aspects of the card I focus on. It’s kind of like looking for the details in a fuzzy picture, and then suddenly understanding the picture for what it is. So I would add that it’s good to focus on each card, but also to review the story that connects all the cards together in the spread. 😁

Welcome CrystalIntrospect! I love intuitive reading, it’s definitely my favorite. I haven’t gotten any oracle decks yet though. I’ll check some of these out!

Ugh, that is a huge bummer. That said, you’re headed north? If you’ll be anywhere near Malden I can 10000% recommend Crying Thaiger. At this point I would drive out of my way to get their food if I had to.

It does! I ended up figuring it out later. I just was swiping in the wrong area/not quite the right way :)
