U.N. report: ‘Convincing’ information Hamas raped, tortured hostages (www.washingtonpost.com)

A team of United Nations experts tasked with gathering information on sexual violence linked to Hamas’s Oct. 7 attacks on Israel found “reasonable grounds to believe” that some victims were sexually assaulted, including rape and gang rape, according to a U.N. report released Monday....

thefartographer,

I appreciate you sharing that. My father certainly wasn’t one of those “man’s men” and certainly had no bias on gender boundaries, mostly because of how pragmatic he was, but also because of behaviors he chose to not emulate from his father.

He also used to beat the shit out of me because his father beat the shit out of him and it’s really hard to break that cycle. I’ve chosen not to have kids because he and I once discussed (after my first legitimate suicide attempt) the fact that he never wanted to be “that” father and he didn’t know what happened. He even opened up how much it scared him the first time he threw me down a short flight of steps into the wall of a hallway in our house.

I have no crystal ball to explore what-ifs for any of us, but I imagine your father walking out on you was the most positive choice he made in his entire life. I appreciate you for the man you’ve become as a result.

PSA, you can add subreddits as an RSS to view without supporting Reddit

There’s still some subreddits I’d like to view as their communities haven’t swapped over yet. Like you guys, I obviously don’t want to support Reddit in any way shape or form. Surprisingly, they have not gutted RSS feeds yet. Simply add .rss at the end of the domain. Example...

That's exactly what they are!

When you get this, it means your instance doesn't know what that relative link is supposed to lead to.

You'll need the exact name in the !name@instan.ce format, or the url to that thing for the instance its on (on kbin you always have to use the full kbin url)

Then, paste that into search on your instance, and this will make it "update the archives". It can take a sec, it might say "no results" for like minute. But after its been done, the link should work!

OC I created a site that helps people search the fediverse (programmer2514.github.io)

I had been having trouble getting meaningful results from the fediverse on Google, and after seeing this post, it seems I'm not the only one. So, I created a site that helps search the fediverse in your search engine of choice (it currently supports Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, and Dogpile)....

Audalin,

Alternatively, ffmpeg -protocol_whitelist file,crypto,data,https,tls,tcp -stats -i <URL.m3u8> -codec copy <FILE.mp4>.

Also, some m3u8's are just files containing redirects to other m3u8's in various resolutions. You might want to extract the one you need and download that.

donnachaidh,

Just as an aside, I didn't know F6 did that. I use Ctrl+L, which does that same thing but also drops down the suggestions.
