On my big 2019 trip, I went through Barcelona just long enough to see the Basilica of La Sagrada Familia. Antoni Gaudí started building it in the 1880s and it sounds like they are going to finish construction in 2026. These photos are from the exterior of the basilica. Everything was at a scale where it was almost impossible to get a good shot.
I did. That was a great trip. Unfortunately, I didn't see much of Barcelona. That trip took me through four countries on two continents and I just budgeted enough time to see the basilica and get a bunch of lovely ham. I kind of want to find my way back there at some point, though.

The state of Israel is committing a genocide of the Palestinian people. It is excruciatingly painful to witness the horrors and despair in the Gaza strip and West Bank, while feeling powerless and at the mercy of relentless states that are directly complicit, not only in supporting this siege, but also in the decade long illegal occupation of Palestine.[1] It has to stop.
Sadly, proprietary digital platforms are once again go-to places for information, organising, and the raising of voices in our geographical and social surroundings. This is dangerous because, as we have seen in mainstream social media, they will use their power to throttle and silence some voices and foreground others. We are also concerned with activism against apartheid having to depend on tech provided by the same companies that are directly involved in creating tech for apartheid.[2] Instead, we want to center federated networks as a way to desinvest our energy from Google, AWS and others.
We aim to do so without judging comrades' decisions in the midst of desperate counter-politics, and without imposing ways of operating (especially in such decisive struggles, we need to stay united and keep solidarities elastic).
@pipas will share news, stories and events linked to the liberation of Palestine, and to other struggles too. We are especially interested in figuring out what role computational infrastructures play in these struggles.
