This is what happens when they know you won't leave.

"But muh games...and Linux is too difficult and weird"

I say to those: well then you've made your choice, didn't you? It's going to keep happening, like it's been since the 90s.

voracitude,

Oh, sorry, I thought we were talking about how much people who use YouTube hate YouTube’s shitty design, based on the fact that this whole thread is about YouTube users hating the enshittification of YouTube.

But you’re not here to engage with anyone, are you. You’re here to shill for a corporation 🤡

downpunxx,

I hope she says yes to double her salary

That would be the dream, but people gotta eat. Hope she at least gets a raise.

I hope they realize they need BIG FAT raises to return.

Imprudent3449,

The cable lobby loves to bring up rural areas but when we gave them millions to build out they just took the money, said fuck it and did jack shit. I’m beginning to think that they prefer to under serve those areas and then use that as a bargaining chip to get everything they want.

brbposting,

Was halfway to the mailbox when I realized these weren’t the official instructions

New Discord TOS binds you to forced arbitration - Opt-Out Now (discord.com)

Forced arbitration means any legal disputes you may have with Discord must be resolved through a single third party mediator, who 99% of the time is chosen by, and will rule in favor of, the corporation/Discord. This effectively removes all your legal rights as a consumer, because arbitration decisions are legally binding and...

superfes,

Guess they have a press release about compromised user data to release on May 30th…

Which undoubtedly already happened.

Splatterphace,

Well, they’re forcing ads on the free version now, so maybe Teamspeak is the place to be 😉

They explicitly state that their arbitration clause only applies in the US, probably because the US is one of the few major markets that lets them get away with arbitration nonsense and don’t want to get slapped by the EU.

this just in: buying closed-source black boxes that are wholly under the control of a faceless profit-seeking entity results in a bad experience when said profit-seeking entity starts scraping pennies out of the user’s asshole against their will and also has zero incentive to improve user experience or freedom when the user is already platform locked

Don’t want to sound like I’m proselytizing, but unless you run Linux, your computer really isn’t yours (closed firmware aside).

Microsoft is just as bad at treating your hardware as theirs that they so graciously allow you to use (in between forced updates, criticizing your browser choices, and trying to trick you into storing everything you do in one drive)

Yeah, I know people running FreeBSD as their daily driver; totally left that one out haha.

The rest of them are either niche (e.g. FreeDOS for retrogaming) or not quite ready for daily driving (e.g. ReactOS – which I’ve been rooting for for a while now).

There’s also TempleOS lol

When we’re talking FOSS, feel free to “ackshually” all day. Worst case is I learn something new/cool.

Kyrrrr,

The article isn’t for us. It’s for the super rich to justify their wealth. They’ll read that and think, “yeah, I made my sacrifices, these kids need to make theirs if they want to be as wealthy as me. Now how do I pay my daughter to talk to me again?”

tempest,

I go there to buy Nintendo games because I don’t trust Nintendo not to do weird crap with their digital goods.

givesomefucks,

It was an update of Prometheus.

He gave fire to humans

Lucifer (the lightbringer) brought humans the knowledge of agriculture. And humanity left behind the “garden”. Which was an allegory for hunter/gather society.

Which led to the concept of land ownership, vasly increases how much personal property someone could accumulate, and was pretty shit for the average human.

Having them be naked was more to make people think of pre-agriculture as pre-human.

Can you imagine how hard it was to convince people to work 10-14 hours a day for someone else’s profit when for thousands of years their ancestors had a much easier life?

WhatAmLemmy,

There is zero doubt in my mind that Google VPN is a honey pot for ad mining.

You’d have to be a complete fucking moron to get your VPN from any surveillance capitalism corporation.

Hubi,

2/2/2024

That article is from February.

AbouBenAdhem,

Google will no longer allow public access to its caches. I doubt they’ve stopped keeping caches for their own use.

rageagainstmachines,

Why don’t you pour resources into preventing homelessness in the first place you twats

Retreaux,

Honestly, it ticks me off when people attack third party voters instead of going after the majority of eligible voters that just don’t vote at all. Like, if you have such a problem with my personal vote, please go after the people who didn’t even try first. Thank you for voting, and your reasons are yours and yours alone.

Virtue signalling and punishing people who use their constitutional ability to vote vs those who don’t even bother absolutely infuriates me.

alcoholicorn,

Money doesn’t buy happiness, it’s merely a pre-requisite for health, safety, freedom of movement, education, and social standing.
