Un Dorian Gray sin pasado, ni patria ni bandera.

I'm just a guy in the who likes going on adventures, and playing games with friends.

Three things I love: the Oxford Comma, irony, and missed opportunities.

How many of you are still working full-time remote and how is it going? If not, why not? Was the decision made by you to go back to the office or did your employer decide for you?

I am still working full-time remote. There are definitely some social aspects of going to the office I miss, but I really don't miss the commute or the shitty office politics. Overall I feel I am still more productive from home and happier overall.

I'm practically full-time remote, though technically hybrid. But unlike the "x days at home, y days in the office" hybrid, we're wfh unless we have a reason to be in the office together for collaboration, which actually is helpful. So in reality, I go in a day or two every couple weeks or so. No complaints on my side.

I'm not surprised they struck it down, but I guess the jaded side of me is surprised they allowed him a different avenue to do the relief instead of making the whole concept illegal.

Also, there was talk from the Republicans about try to force everyone to pay back the interest we would have been paying this entire time. Somewhat surprised they didn't agree to that as well.

It was way back at the beginning when @ernest made the change to make upvotes on kbin more closely aligned to Lemmy, but boosts also bump a thread to the top of the Active list and give it some number of points for it's score in the Hot list.

It does also affect reputation, but ignore that. It's broken, doesn't really affect anything, and Ernest has a lot of other important things to fix/implement before tackling that one.

And feddit is showing up in your blocked domains section in settings now? I haven't been blocking many domains, but I've had no problems with people and magazines going away.

What part of Mastodon do you struggle with, if you don't mind me asking?

themadcodger,

Just be careful. That only works because your instance already knows about those other instances because someone already interacted with them. If you ever want to join a community on a non-popular instance, you might have to be the first person to search for it by copying and pasting.

I've suffered from migraines since I was a kid, though thankfully not as frequently as some people. If I can catch it early enough with medication (I'm lucky one works for me) it's not the end of the world.

The few times I haven't been able to get the meds have been the absolute worst pain. 10/10 pain scale, everything hurts, every nerve on fire. Not only is your entire body protesting its existence while someone is jamming a spike into your eye and wiggling it around while someone else is splitting your skull open with a something dull, but everything external causes extra pain. Lights hurt, sounds hurt, smells hurt whatever that means. It's the only time I've been suicidal if it meant ending the pain.

When someone tells you "Oh, I've had migraines they're not that bad I just try to ignore it" no, they've had a headache. Migraines leave you sobbing in a dark room hoping you die sooner than later. Do not recommend.

Proton’s encrypted password manager is now available to everyone. - The Verge (www.theverge.com)

After rolling out its password manager to a limited number of users in April, Proton has finally released the service to the general public. The tool, called Proton Pass, uses end-to-end encryption to keep your usernames and passwords away from third parties, including Proton itself. It also lets you create and store randomly...

I've imported my content from bitwarden to try it out and it works well. The browser extension detects when you have a match and adds an icon to the username/password field. You click it and it offers you the relevant results. Click the right one (or the only one if you have just the one login) and it autopopulates the fields.

Otherwise you can click the extension and click the username or password to copy and paste. As far as I can tell there's no auto fill from the extension, just from the icon in the appropriate field.

Like others, this one can generate passphrases (or jumbled passwords) as well as TOTP. I haven't tried the TOTP yet as I kinda like some separation having those in a separate app.

edit: Forgot, this also has an email generator for when you don't want to give out your real address. I assume this might be part of the paid plans, but I haven't looked into tiers as I'm already a subscriber.

themadcodger,

I've been using it as my primary email for ~5 years now I think, having a paid plan. I have no regrets. Free is nice, but I'm trying not to be "a product", so $5/month for everything isn't bad at all.

I'm in the exact same boat, but I switched to try it out. It took under a minute to export/import from bitwarden to Pass and it works well so far. Not sure if I'll switch or not though.

That sounds awesome. How did you find that the first time around?

How does Proton work? Is it another application like wine?

What kind of cat is Rufus?

Ah, with the ears and longer hair and dog software, I was wondering if he were part Maine coon or maybe Norwegian Forest cat.

Well, good news on that front, the house and senate passed a bill to let us pump our own. As long as Kotek signs it, it would go into effect immediately.

Us and New Jersey I think are the only two now.

Meta's attempt to fill the twitter void. At one time it was going to be called Barcelona, but now it's apparently going to be called Threads. Coming to a Fediverse near you later this summer.

I was hoping to get free time back by ditching reddit, but now I'm spending a lot more time in the fediverse, mostly here and Calckey. At least the content and vibes are better here.

themadcodger,

It really does. My first thought was a lot of cities where it's run down and depressed and the more hipster artsy types show up for the cheap property and make something interesting. Eventually the affluent catch wind and show up to take advantage of what was created and price the originals out.
