Nimarata is a beautiful name. It's also Nikki Haley's first name.
Every time racist and xenophobic people in her base see that her name is Nimarata, she loses voters. The name has no impact on non-racist/non-xenophobes.
Her performing anti-Blackness and transphobia to try to win the presidential seat, or help Trump get elected and win the Vice Presidential seat, is bad.
Not bringing up the name Nimarata, helps her maintain the white supremacists in her coalition. That is what I don't want.
My guess: #Trump may have someone like #Musk co-signing Chubb bond, so the bank is comfortable being on the hook for the judgment. Same could happen for the bond for AG $450M judgment. & this strategy wd allow co-signor to say truthfully that they did not give or loan Trump any $
Joyce Vance:
This=important pt. Trump is beholden to someone & we don't know who. Reporters shd ask him to explain all of the details. GOP leaders shd, but probably won't be esp concerned.
Whenever I see "art" like this I always have to zoom in, and make sure it's AI, because the thought of an artist actually putting in effort for something like this gives me indigestion.
@joshourisman@AlexanderVI@RickiTarr@Kierkegaanks T-tail, twin jet airliner, with the wing below the windows and winglets? Nope. No such beast. AN-148 is close, but has a high wing. 8' white Jesus, Dutch Soldiers, mutant Russian jet.
Why do sci-fi artists design aerodynamic spaceships like mother ships that are never going to land? Aerodynamics really doesn't matter a whole lot in space.
Also, why would these ships need a discernable top and bottom? There is no real up or down for most of your interstellar travel.
@nyrath@cerebrate@JeremyMallin
Also energy is cheap (inside the orbit of Jupiter). Just hang panels out to collect more.
Mass is expensive. You have to get it from somewhere, take it where you need it, and once you throw it away its gone.
@cerebrate@nyrath@JeremyMallin At this point we don't really know what the economics of space/microgravity industry will be. I suspect "optimize for low mass" is going to be an overwhelming consideration.
I'm trying to remember old pulp scifi stories containing an old scifi troupe.
The idea was in the story, there existed telepathy and other mental powers. Some people's powers were latent, they had them but could not use them. Often were unaware that they had them.
BUT ... if another telepath tried to read their mind, they could see (internally) how it is done. Suddenly the latent telepath was a full telepath.
@nyrath its been a long time since i read it, but didn't "The Stars My Destination" have the "everyone can do it once they've been shown the trick" plot point?
God: In an unfortunate Afterlife mix-up, Jacob Marley will be headlining The Pearly Gates Reggae Festival, and Bob Marley will be teaching a rich old Curmudgeon the meaning of Christmas.
@nyrath The reason the Enterprise would plunge into the planet within a few minutes of losing power is that they were using the engines to hover directly overhead to minimize terrain interference with line of sight communications.
It's not like Kirk had to pay for the antimatter himself.
@Hcobb@nyrath
So if Enterprise had traveled with a destroyer, a couple of frigates, and maybe a few corvettes to use as communication relays they could have avoided a lot of trouble?
If you need an arm workout, here's what I've found is the best formula... #WORKOUTTIPS
Curls? No.
Weights? No.
Regular gym visits? No.
Place an 85 lb dog (with major pull power -- Husky, Pittie, Bulldog, etc.) on a long 8 to 10 ft leash on a harness.
Find where the squirrels in your neighborhood hang out.
HANG ON FOR DEAR LIFE!!! PULL LIKE YOU HAVE NEVER PULLED BEFORE!!!! (ps. make sure you don't get leash burn... dislocate a finger... or get pulled face first as they drag you down the street/trail. Or through the bushes).
@iamgerardthomas@not2b@nyrath I work in the group at google that designs data center hardware. We have the "Alpha Go" computers on display in our lobby. I tell people we keep the corpse on display as a warning to future AIs.
Very interesting article on the benefits of composting.
Also if they claim that weeds should not be composted, I strongly disagree with this statement.
Weeds are a fantastic source of greens when you only collect the leaves. If you make a conscious effort to drastically reduce your waste weeds will contribute to a healthy compost pile. Of course, don't collect the seeds.
@isaackuo@tkinias@nyrath@cjshearwood yeah, this.
Windows are secondary to instruments and controls. Notice how they can be completely eliminated in FPV drones.
How long before we see a remote piloted airliner, where the pilot isn't even on board and the front of the plane has premium passenger seating instead?
