I’m a #gaymer who loves romps in the digital world! Books, Creative Writing, Anime/Manga, Movies, and Art help me recharge in-between shifts at work. Despite the fact I’m here to connect to others, anxiety sometimes disrupts jolly conversations.

Seriously looking into Linux for my PC because Microsoft and their overzealous approach to AI is making me nervous as heck.

I'm going to settle on Ubuntu as my familiarity with that Linux distro is high enough; I do need to check for any major changes with CLI commands, reworking of OS features, and the like before switching over. I don't want any surprises.

Over the next few days, I will back-up anything I need in the future digitally.

Inspired by @tashen I'm going to examine various Mastodon Clients on Android, skipping the early access clients...Also, the ones that I feel are sketchy as well. I'll start by compiling my thoughts on Fedilab, one of my favorite Mastodon apps soon.

I 100% relate to the Orville Peck song cover of 'Smalltown Boy'. In a way, it mirrored my own experience in a small city; Misunderstood, bullied, I didn't cry after a while of this happening. I looked at others with dead and unaffected eyes, my face resembled a burial mask giving nothing away.

On the inside, there was an emotional storm...A teen boy trying to find out how to become a person in the eyes of others. I like to think I found the answer, like he did.

This latest Zom 100 episode was scary and hilarious, I'm happy they've moved past the awkwardness of Episode 4. Might keep watching.

The same can be said about Sweet Reincarnation, I'm on the edge of dropping it...As they're pairing an adult in a child's body with an actual child. I dropped Jobless Reincarnation for a similar reason...Except the main character was such a pervert that I loathed him. I'll wait and see.

It's weirdly convenient that Amazon decided to bundle all my orders into one box...Which is arriving tomorrow, I applaud their smart thinking.

However, this rushes my deadline for getting roasted coffee beans. I will put an order in for some roasted beans from a local place on Wednesday; after finishing an errand which I've put off for a while.

I'm chuffed about being able to enjoy coffee on my days off and drinking tea during the work week!

Oof, I forgot how much anxiety powers my walking ability. I got to my appointment site over 35 minutes early. The scenery is lovely so I'm feeling pretty chuffed about today.

After the GI Consult, I'll be able to get a metabolic blood test redone to figure out why some of my results were so low.

Fetching the metadata for all my books downloaded via Google Takeout is nice! Calibre is such a great program that I like to support often.

As they are the key to releasing books from their walled gardens. I will probably use a mix of Apple, Kindle, and directly supporting authors via purchases from their sites going forward. It will fragment my reading experience a bit...It wouldn't be too terrible of an experience for me though.

107 is supposed to be high for today...I had plans to take the bus to my glasses fitting and walk the 3.5 miles to my apartment after. Welp, I'm waiting till tomorrow to get that done!

It will be 104 degrees tomorrow late in the day, which means I'd have time to walk home in hot but not energy sapping heat. I'll play State of Decay 2 instead!

After reading the annual soulless Square Enix Group corporate letter...I'm decidedly uninterested in any of their games. They are naturally pursuing the latest get rich quicker scheme, designed to make creatives even less valuable in their eyes.

I don't want to support their bullshit by buying their products. Another corporation that I won't buy products from, as they are on my personal boycott list.

During my playthrough of Monster Hunter World...I found that I'm a ranged type of player after finding a lot of the melee weapons were not to my taste (save for the Insect Glaive).

I'm probably going to main the Light Bow Gun and Insect Glaive with a sprinkling of Heavy Bow Gun for beefy targets. I'm learning how to pick my reload and unload into the monster times!

After looking into the experience even further and mulling over the potential switch. I've decided to inquire about what my down-payment would be for upgrading to an iPhone on my next day off as that may be where some of my paycheck goes to instead of my previous plan. As I don't want to support Google anymore, in any capacity, I straight up want to delete my account at this point.

I'm going to sign up for Proton Mail, switch my essential accounts to Proton Mail, and use 2FA with Authy.

I'm going to pick up my glasses...I got my bus pass activated, I know the approximate time that I need start walking to the bus stop, sunscreen for the walk home applied. I've picked out a metal music playlist on Tidal for my journey back home. Everything but my nerves are ready for this little journey.

For years I hesitated to use the bus system here, was wracking my brain. Technology is making me comfortable with the idea enough to try.

Day 24: What's the best time of day for you to write?

Normally, I'll write when the inspiration strikes and create new paragraphs in existing stories (I'm just doing this for fun at the moment).

During my days off, I make time to brainstorm and write for 30 minutes or more depending on how long my creative fuel lasts.

Man, stuff is going down at the gas station I'm working at. Two police officers are searching a car after getting a whiff of the pot smoking occupants.

There was a lady who's truck got temporarily removed from her possession by a POS dude. He came back eventually and gave it back. He left angrily ranting on the phone. Tuesday is unhinged so far. 😵‍💫

I got my French Press, Coffee Bean Grinder, and other things today! I washed the manual grinder already because it was the most intricate thing that needed to be cleansed. The French Press can be washed tonight; I will be off for four days and it won't take overlong to clean the thing. It's honestly too big but someday I might crave more than one cup of coffee so this is an investment.

Put in an order for 1/2 lbs. bag of roasted Bolivian Organic coffee beans. Can't wait to try it!

I'm feeling so conflicted about the idea of installing Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. It looks pretty, modern, and something I need in my life right now!

However, a lot of the programs I use are Windows-centric. I don't want to mess with Wine or finding alternatives (which is something I normally wouldn't mind doing). At least this version will be there when Microsoft inevitably buggers up and forces my hand once again.

I'm watching an iconic CLAMP X...While it's stylish, I notice the characters often have long fingers and legs. An artistic signature for CLAMP, though this time the arms are proportional.

I'm enjoying X in anime form for the first time, as I initially read the incomplete manga. I really hope completes the manga...I hunger for a complete tale!

Ultimately, when I do purchase a Mac Mini, I have a safety net for being able to experiment with freely. It's easier to experiment when failure doesn't cause any significant issues in one's life. General anxiety is a struggle of mine, so doing sensible things to mitigate the intensity of anxiety helps me take chances I wouldn't risk ordinarily. The PC can become my Linux experiment, I can follow the documentation about Linux to increase my comfort levels with Linux.

My early impressions of are: The terrain alteration is wonky and drives me crazy sometimes. However, I love how plant husbandry is implemented as there's a lot one needs to keep in mind when growing your plants. I didn't like the raids that come to your Oasis, so I turned Peaceful Mode on. As a result, I will only need to fight enemies in places that they congregate in the world. There's still a challenge without it being an annoyance.

Oof, the Mountain Pass opening encounter is rough...I expected to be facing level 5 enemies at most when moving through the next area at level 4. Instead a couple of strong level 6 enemies were present in an encounter which made it complex (not saying why).

After work, I'm going back to the Goblin Camp and clear it out for more experience. If that doesn't give me enough, there's a few more places to nab some experience.

1/29 - Did you write stories when you were a kid?

When I was a kid, I wrote a lot of fanfiction about Duke and Snake Eyes getting married, owning a cute German Shepard; On their days off from fighting COBRA they'd go to the park to play with their dog, cuddle and watch comedy or horror films after getting errands done.

I didn't know what gay was yet...However, a lot of my love related writing was centered around love between two men. ROFL

Playing Nier Automata while waiting upon the release of another …It’s a beautiful and frustrating experience thus far. I can overcome some of the challenges it presents, so I go into focus mode upon being challenged. If you ever come across my body, “A cursed child got killed at a blood-soaked battlefield.” is the death message you’d encounter. Surprisingly, I only die in encounters with multiple phases. In normal combat or boss fights…I survive!

I am totally floored by the bold, drunk on LLM idea that Slack by Saleforce has right now: They want to compromise the privacy of customer data to train their implementation of an LLM.

This is beyond cursed because Salesforce has the audacity to make this scheme an opt-out instead of op-in to maximize the data accumulation.

I hope the uproar this will generate makes Slack step the hell back!

Having sifted through my options between harder and easier, I will likely go with Proton Drive as that will allow me to combine costs into one service. It will save me money, and that makes me quite happy. I will still use a Microsoft account due to having an Xbox and password less login…

However, my reliance on them is greatly lessened. I will be less reliant on Google too, there are some accounts that are a pain in the ass to change. In 2024 that is untenable!
