Apparently I'm not the only one who's happy about the many woodlice in my composting bin. I met this little guy today when I checked how composting is going. Not a bit of panic - this appears to a very happy shrew. #gardening#compost#nature@compost
@tg9541@compost They're super cute, but tbh I don't understand why people bother keeping them as pets. Much better to have them playing outside in the 'wild' 😍
How did you get so lucky with the picture though? They usually run off on me before I can get a good shot.
I guess that there are many posts with #eclipse photos right now - here is one more from a place in the Choctaw reservation in #Oklahoma. We were lucky with the weather - the totality was awesome!
Early #spring vegetation in German vineyards: Draba verna is a minute plant that appears in early spring. The flower looks like it had 8 petals, but it's in the mustard family, a cruciferous plant. The German name translates to "spring-hunger-floret", so I guess it's edible if one is sufficiently hungry. #bloomscrolling#mosstodon
A fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra): I met this little guy while #cycling on forest roads in the Swabian-Franconian forest. #winter#nature#amphibian
#cycling took me to the Murr valley and to the hills around #Backnang today. By chance the 70km ride took me to Lichtenberg Castle (that's the first time since I live in this region). The traffic on the main roads was a bit too dense for my taste, the drivers on some of the smaller roads too fast and too close. That's a sure sign that one is in the #Stuttgart area. The ride was good, though. Maybe I find smaller roads next time.
I used the roadbike today instead of my "commute bike" with studded tires: I wanted to ride fast. My ride took me to smaller, yet gritted, roads that connect villages, hamlets and farms. Instead of one large climb I did several smaller ones. #winter#cycling#Germany
