Sitting on the back veranda of my hillside home on 8 acres at dusk. Lights just coming on in the Rogue Valley below and on the Cascade Mountains foothills on the other side of the valley. Red headed woodpecker is chattering as it nests, and a great horned owl is hooting from the Oaks below, no doubt on the prowl for a meal. It’s been dry, so the frogs have stopped singing but crickets are still ever-present in the background. In the distance, an occasional glass pack muffler or high-revving cafe racer shatters the evening quiet then fades away.

Roses are beginning to show off in our garden. You’ll be seeing more of these images as the season progresses and depressing news sends me to our garden for retreat and solace. Taking pictures of flowers is kinda like therapy for me personally. You know, right?

My partner made, for the first time tonight, homemade Gelato prepared with Bailey’s Irish Cream and a shot of espresso and… OMG. We’re definitely having that again. I like it as much as her legendary Russian Cream dessert. It’s really wonderful being married to a trained chef - as her family (in this case her sister and me, but sometimes our kids and grandkids) are her only clients.

After Hamas attacked Israel last October killing about 1,200 and taking a few hundred hostages, over 35,000 Palestinians, including 20,000 women and children, have been killed by Netanyahu’s onslaught in Gaza. 200 aid workers have been killed. Hospitals and schools have been razed. Journalists have been targeted by the IDF, which also targeted UN relief operations. Over a million people face starvation. All due to Israel’s violence and blockade of humanitarian aid. This is what the United States is supporting when it sends money and bombs to Netanyahu.
